ok so I guess it has plenty of fuel getting into it? have you tried putting a bit of fuel down plug hole and pulling as that will tell you if it will fire at least then it has to be fuel not getting in! if that is the case could be carb insulator block or gasket!

Thanks, have tried that. No go plus the plug normally is wet so obviously is getting fuel. Have also been starting with exhaust pipe of rather bolting everything on and having to undo. I have noticed what appears to be a very light smoke
coming out exhaust so again something is going on but not enough to start.

It might not be smoke coming out, but a mist of fuel.

MBE301, you are right it is a mist of fuel. I guess we can rule out lack of fuel.

I was going to say would be just a mist of fuel! anyway fuel there has to be spark? if piston and barrel fitted correctly

Apart from mark on piston pointing the right way, and with piston ring join pointing towards carb the head can only go on one way so pretty sure that is all okay

had my km for about 2 weeks.had a few initial problems (couple of loose screws, poorly fitted rear shock cap & carby tune way way out) but a phone call to benckie and about 1/2 hour work all was rectified . have give it a few of 10 - 15 minute runs with factory carby settings (after i reset them cuase it wouldn't start) and am very happy. these things are awsome but i still hav 1 minor problem. the only way i can get it to idle is to trim it up, to the point where the idle screw is not even touching the throttle shaft arm and when ever i hit the brake it stalls. is it to rich or lean on the low setting? other than this it goes pretty well good top end and very responsive, no bog down. dont want to run it for too long until i get some advice in case its too lean as i dont want to sieze the motor but have been having pc problems and hav been un-able to get on to ask you guys. any advice would be greatly appreciated as im itching to take it to the sand dunes for some real fun.

I thought so, had the same thing. I've got a leak or a problems with the carb. Found out in a funny way. Had the carb off (for the third of forth time) and thought to myself, how does it sound turning over without the carb? Gave a short pull on the starter cord... sounded great, motor fired right up (reving high) car shot off the table and rolled to a stop. That'll wake the kids at 1am, BaWAAAA (that's my poor way of describing the engine starting)... Crash.. thump.. me yelling HOLY SH!!!, then LMHO. My daughter(8) came running in asking what happened. I told her daddy was busy learning something the wrong way and tucked her back into bed. She reminded me to "learn from your mistakes... mostly those loud ones".

Recently discovered fuel line gromet installed in fuel tank is not quite tight and may be causing a vacuum leak. Purchased stock HPI replacmenet fuel line set today and will try tonight. I have spent nearly a month having starting/tuning problems. Even when running, the bog down effect from accelerating hard hasnot gotten any better. I suspect the possible leak from the fuel tank gromet not sitting perfect (underneath had broken off and was floating in furl mixture). Is this the source of all my headaches?

hi guys ive been away up north fish, so sorry for not answering pm, emails and phone calls,

the problem is km have changed engines, they are now using a all in one crank case/ clutch housing, that has been machined to fit the head corectly for squish, these new engines are more like the sq bajas the carb bolts are slightly to long and i suspect are leaking air, and i also suspect that head will no longer work with 28mm crank or even 30 mm cranks.

i have spoken to km about these new engines trying to get the engines spec,s and also ask why we have not been told of the engine change, but i have got no sence out of them.

the new engines are not as good as the old engines, the old engines where the same as the cy engines, with two halfs of the crank case with a seperate clutch house that bolts on to the crank case and a brown carbie spacer.

the new engines have a back carb sparcer all in one crank case/clutch cover, by looking at the engines straight out i can see the car bolts are to long and have bitten into the gaskit on the head.

Any one using these new engines i would sugest looking for air leaks and or bying a cy carb spacer and a coulpe of gaskits (will cost under 10 aud) and removing the carbie and reinstalling it, you might even have to grind 3mm of the carb bolts the ones that go through the airfilter base right thru the carb into the carb sparcer.

last week me a freind ran one of these new engines it flew to bits befor we had a chance to run the second tank thru it, luckly km had organized to send me 2 new engines befor this happend to fix a mistake they made.

ill give one to my mate to run in his baja and ill stripp the outher down and see what the go is, unfortunaly most of my big tools are out at the farm along with my measuring equipment, but ill see if i can get one running as a sikk as thats all the heads i have.
