My yak is flying great. I am in the middle of building the EF yak that is the same size. the throttle servo is in the box and the tank is just in front of the wink tube. I have moved my CG back as mentioned above. I flew it at a demo in 15-20 mph winds the other day and it tracks very well and flew well. Landing however is an experience with the rear CG as the plane tends to ballon some with the slightest elevator imput. I really like it though and hope ot fly it again soon. I would try your battery back near the front of the tank for balance at around 6" initially. Let me know how you make out.

Status: offline 		I just saw a advertisement for there 89" yak.... Looked at there 73 inch yak and was very interested and here I am!!!
Confused on one thing though...............
FG models IS Magic hand??

The quality and size seems equal to that of the EF yak..??
220$ this spring! wow I would have jumped on that Had I known about it.....
I was too busy buying up all the 80cc Lanier ARF's that were baught out by GP and were half priced.....

Anyway,,, I picked up a cg yak 67" and have not been too happy with it.... due to it's wa... Just not engough to support what the EF yak 74" and the 73" can
handle....

still seems like a great buy....

I am building an EF Yak right now and there are things I like out each (EF and MagicHand) better. The Magic Hand has much better glass work. The EF has removable tail and a slightly thicker airfoil along with a CF wingtube and better hardware. I have flown the 73" a number of times and it flys well and lands like a dream with my set up. I am anxious to get the EF in the air to compair. I heard that TBM had a version 2 coming out with a slightly longer nose and CF with tube and gear. The tube is very heavy. If you try one I think you will like it.

I am a huge fan of EF products.
I plan on picking up there soon to be released 2M pattern plane....(I know, it is a bit, outside what they have been making)
I have no doubt that it will be every good as there other products.....

I do like the size of these yaks though....
perfect for everyday, park flying..... Fo me anyway...

I understand about the main wing tube.... CF is a nice upgrade for any of these aircrafts with removable wings...
I wonder if the version 2, will cause a price increase????

Status: offline 		Yes they are pre-hinged with CA hinges. I tested them and they are fine. I have done blenders and snaps and have had no issues. I do als seal all my hing lines with clear Ultra or Mono cote from underneath to avoid flutter and this also gives a little extra strength.

What are you all doing for spinners / prop nuts on the MH 73" Yak?

Plastic or Alum. spinner? TruTurn custom cut for your prop or what?

I am thinking about the Dubro Alum Spinner shaped prop nut as it avialable in colors - much lower cost than a spinner too.

What are your thoughts on the best way to go for looks and for using an electric starter??

If spinner, what brand and diameter?

I also read that the wing tube is carbon fiber... Is this new? I thought they were aluminum?

The CF wing tube is new. I talked to the guys at TBM a while back and they said that the Generation 2 planes would be upgraded with CF tubes and a little longer nose to hlep with balance. They were also talking about CF landing gear. I think you will be impressed with it when you get it. The plane flys very well. I replumbed mine when it came because the fuel dot was undersized and TBM said they were fixing that also. Good luck and throw some photos up when you get it.

Can anyone report on weight issues with gas engines? I'm thinking of an RCGF 45cc at 55oz and 4.3hp.

Status: offline 		Just ran across this thread and I must say.....I GOTTA HAVE ONE...... I do have a few questions though. How large of a gasser could you put in one without balance issues or tearing the firewall off? What would be a good gasser to use? It would be my first gasser. Im tired of wiping oil off of my glow engines. I also fly at 4500 ASL. Everything I own right now has the next size larger from max recomendation in it to get the performance. I would also like to put a smoke system in it if there is room. Im not looking to do extreme 3D stuff with it, but some real good aerobatics and pattern type stuff peaks my intrest.
Any input would be appreciated. Thanks

Status: offline 		I would say anything that will give you 10lbs of thrust or more would be ok 30-4-cc. Balance wise the 1.60 balanced perfect and gives unlimited verticle. It is a well built plane

I would go for the QQ yak 73"........No doubt due to winter sale going on now!!!

QQ yak 73" is 339.95$.... and that colour scheme is fantastic!!!

Same price, I am partial to qq planes, as I have always loved the qq brio shcemes... Not due to the name, but I love the colours.....
Unfortionatly, he has pulled it off his bigger planes and went to give his buddies props for their involvment with his new TI Python 150cc (Kimbal ent.)

The Scheme is the seller for me.... I would not buy one of his 85cc and up planes due to the change. Only his python still has it...

Magic hand looks fantastic, If it had a color shceme better than the Brio, I would buy that one!... All in the eyes of the beholder, I guess??

didnt extreme flight use to have their 74" yak combo with a brillelli 46?

This thread is just so interesting! How would you compare the Magic Hand Yak 54 73" and the EF Yak 54 74" which one suits better for IMAC practising? Or are both only for 3d?

I am planning to use a Laser 240-v glow. It weights about 44oz w/ mufflers and turns a 18*8 8400 rpm or 20*6 9000rpm

I guess the qq YAk 54 73" could be worth a closer look but since qq is out of the business I dunno..


Any ideas? thanks

Status: offline 		AeroFinn, I still have both, the EF and the magichand. I flew the EF yesterday and it flies like a dream. both inverted and upright with no stick input. You can independently adjust the stab halves. I liked the Magichand and it flies ok but their is no comparison to the EF. The EF has less coupling in knife edge and much stronger gear. Hope this helps. Either would be ok for IMAC practicing but the EF would be easier to tune

Status: offline 		EX is coming out with a 78" Extra which should be here around Christmas. There are 2 versions & one of them is designed purposely for electric. I believe there will be a 78" Yak configured the same way as well.

I agree there are no comparison to the E.F. products!!!!
