Its a 29.5cc, I got a new head in a package with a bunch of stuff I bought.  I think its a standard Cy-part.  Daves sells them.  I have a stroker head and spare bottom end as well but am not interested in building them yet.

I am still waiting for storm parts but I have my XS together again so I can drive at night on the street again.  Storm and XS are used mostly for that.   Tomorrow I am going to the track for an hour.

Does anybody on here know if this wheel tire combo can be mounted on the RC10T4.1 Truck? I hate 2.2 wheels and really want to mount the 2.8's. I had heard that the 302 series Losi Speed-T wheels would mount up but not really sure.

I want to mount the proline desperaods on my e-storm and I want to mount these on my RC10T4.1 as well. Thanks for the help guys.

I don't think you will be able to get that information in here unless someone owns an RC10.  I don't even know if they are running hexes up front yet on the 1/10 associated trucks.

My parts came in and I've beed having a lot of storm fun.  I am going to wear out my 2.2's and get on to 2.8's from now on.  There is a big difference in control.  I assume there is an off-road trade off but I am mostly street driving my storm.

So after a big headache with crappy servo's I finally replaced the stock ones with a new one. Servo works great, almost got the car tuned when suddenly the pull start crapped out. I took it all apart and the owb is fine, but seem to have a problem with the pin and spring in the crankshaft. I bought a new one, and now it too is messed up. I am done with this truck. I am going to sell it as is and pick up a Slash 4x4 Brushless. I am not a good fit for Nitro.

well - I had a sweet crash tore the screws out of my motor and the car didn't run. Put it back together as best as I could and everything was working. Ran it some more and noticed I kept smelling an electrical burn but checking the temps nothing seemed too crazy 170 on the esc and the motor was well below that. Charged a new batter plugged it in and the esc went up in smoke.

So seeing that the motor is broken (not really but close enough) and the esc is fried I am looking to get a new one. I have been doing a lot of research but still don't have one that I am sold on. I do 90% bashing and maybe 10% racing. I want something that is strong and will last but also fast. MMP - w/ 5700 right now is my thought but I am not sold on anything at all.

Beyond that, I think it is finally time for me to switch over to LiPo so if you have any thoughts on that let me know - right now looking at Gen Ace but would love some other opinions first.

For your first lipos Try some Zippy packs from hobby king. Best 20 bucks you will spend in this hobby.

MMP 5700 is ideal for 2s and 4600 for 2s/3s.  I think its a great ESC but its overkill.  An SV2 should be enough.   I think 170 on the ESC is crazy.

I am a little worried about the SV2 as I just had the original SW burn out on me for reasons I can't figure out. I had good batteries, low settings, regular gears and it just would always run hot. I like that the MMP has a fan built in to it.
Any other thoughts? I think MMP is the right one for me with the 5700.
Any thoughts on a new charger - my current one does not do LiPo.

Stick with the MMP or QBase and you will never worry.  Almost any B6 charger will work well.  Turnigy and titan are the two I've had good luck with but I had bad luck (along with many others) with an Imax version.  There are a few versions of that one out there.  The turnigy has a fan.

Thanks man. Found out my LHS has the mmp w/5700 for $230. Not bad seems about equal with the prices I am seeing on the net so far. I will check out those chargers.

Also, the zippy lipo at least the one posted is sold out.

so I am going with the MMP 5700 combo, got 2 of the zippy lipos went 2s, 4000 mah, 30c. For the charger I went with a Duratrax Onyx 245 - currently I had their piranha one and it was great. Got the charger as the LHS but they didn't have the motor combo. Oh well.
Thanks for helping out guys. hopefully this one does not go up in smoke as well.

Have fun with it.  I've had great luck with MMP ESCs.

I went to the track today with some guys and burned almost two packs in my truggy until the rear diff case broke.  I marshalled the nitro guys for a while before calling it quits.   My truggy and buggy are both down now but luckily my other truggy is being returned from a friend that didn't want it.

New workshop coming soon...

I have the SV2 in my storm, and it does get very hot, I ended up dropping a pinion, and I only run 2S lipo on all the low settings. The motor gets especially hot and after 15mins of running its too hot to touch. And this is in 50 degrees farenheit, so its not hot weather...

Considering buying a Firestorm Flux. Are you guys not happy with the HPI rebranded Castle motor/esc? Does it wheelie on command with a 8.4v nimh or 2s lipo?

Archer - if you are bashing and just want a lot of power go for the castle setup.   The ballistic motors are smooth but they have a lot less power than the castle.  They are two pole as well and are kind of out dated compared to whats coming out now.

Scheibler - I don't the motors are that good, they appear to pull a lot of amps compared to the pure castle motors they are based on.    I have no idea if the stock truck wheelies on command with 2s lipo but I assume it will off the line all the time. NiMH - don't know.  I think the ESCs are okay, especially the second vapour, qbase and blur.

Welcome....

What would be a good brushless esc/motor combo that won't overheat? Debating buying a new FLUX with the 4-pole 4800kv motor and castle sidewinder or getting a used e-firestorm and adding my own choice. I was really impressed with my VXL system in my stampede and never had a problem with it.

Any system will work and not overheat if its geared properly.  MMax pro/4-pole 3800 to 5700 motors are the most popular in here.  Venom just came out with a new system.  The traxxas stuff is two-pole so it will have less torque.

Hey everyone.  Things seems a little slow - has anyone had their storms out lately?  I've had mine out a fair  bit over the past month.  One broken CVD after a fairly light jump on grass.  That is two that have broken pretty easily.

Hey all.  So I'm brand new to the RC world and just got my E-Firestorm Flux.  Wish I could say that I love it but the problem is I'm only getting 5mins or less run time with the battery it came with (I'm guessing it's the battery that's causing my problems).  It came with the 3300mah 7.2V Plazma battery not sure if this will help with the feedback I'll get but there it is.  I'm probably going to go and see if I can get some new batteries for it tomorrow.  From what I've seen or read this seems to be about a typical run time for this kind of battery.  I'm looking to upgrade to the Lipo batteries for better run times and such.  I'm looking to get atleast over 30mins run time for a battery.  Was wondering if anybody had suggestions as to what batteries to buy and maybe an extra charger that will charge in say under/around an hr.  I don't want to charge a battery for 6hrs for a 5min run time.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Jaydub! Welcome to RCU!

Lipo is the way to go. I didn't realize this until about a week ago when I finally got my new batteries. Until then I had been using some of the better Nihm batteries and would have about 10-15 minutes max runtime and super high heats. Also, I believe they are partially the reason I burnt out my last ESC. I think the Flux comes with deans which are great connectors and you should be able to find LiPos with them without a problem. I switched over to bullets and find them much easier than deans but no reason to change over unless you really want to. I would say something with 2s around 5000 mah and maybe 30c should be perfect for what you are looking for.

For the charger - anything that can charge around 5 amps should charge your battery fairly quickly. I just went to the Duratrax Onyx AC/DC Dual Balancing Charger DTXP4245 and really like it. I am sure there are better ones out there but it is a good price and you get 2 chargers in 1. Not needed if you only have one battery or only want to charge one at a time.

Nitro-Rob. I have only got to take out my Storm a few times since getting the new setup. I have to say I love the MMP ESC and the 5700 motor has crazy speeds. My temps are around 105-115 running full out. I think I am running 87/18 right now. I hit 47 mph with this setup (I could be wrong on the pinion though). Using Lipos makes a huge difference. No more cogging at all. Crazy Wheelies (I need to change some settings but it is fun for right now). The run times are crazy.

I guess I need to upgrade my signature now...

Enzyme80.  Thank you very much for all the information.  I'm going to go today to see about getting some new batteries.  Problem is I live in Japan and I only know of a couple of places to go so hopefully I can get lucky and score some batteries and a charger.

I was going to post you some links but the site was down... anyway check out Hobbyking....they have a good inexpensive charger Turnigy Accucel 6 and also Zippy packs are popular in these trucks and inexpensive as well they are a 2s 4000mah 25c hard case. Good luck!

and to whoever asked stock setups do pull wheelies with a lipo anyway
