Status: offline 		Had my first official race day with the E-Firestorm managed to finish second in the A Main.  A XXXT beat me and that was it.  I was the only Firestorm there and many people were impressed with such a low budget truck and how it handled compared to the more expensive tried and tru ST trucks.  Chalk another one up for HPI for engineering a basher truck that is competitive.

Thanks man I was running with the Sidewinder.  The Novak one is the wifes when were bashing and parts truck on raceday. 

Truck Set-Up

Sidewinder 5700
Orion 2s 3300 Lipo 20c
35 weight fluid in AE shocks
AE Gold Springs Up Front Greens out back.
Proline Bow Ties in the rear and The Edge up front both on HPI Dish rims
Diff filled with caliper lube
Spektrum DX2.0

Status: offline 		I'm sorry if I'm hijaking/barging in, but how well do e-firestorms handle really soft dirt and fine gravel with good sized (1-2in) rocks? I live in central oregon (bend, specifically), and anyone elso who does probably understands my question. Also, how well do joints and such hold up to dirty wear? The volcanic ash that permeates my area is hell to any rubbing surfaces. Thank you much

Hello and welcome
 I think the storm would handle ok on that surface....A 4x4 might be better,Like a e-savage.As for the ash you should be ok...just try not to lube any of the exposed moving parts as it will atract the ash and make a paste that will eat the parts away....

I would like to post some photos but I can't use reply option, only fast reply works for me. Maby later when this will be fixed I'll post them.

Status: offline 		yep, they look cool, when pack will arrive I'll tell you how they are handling.
For now I was running FS on 3s lipo for about 5min because of motor heat, just to see how it goes... it's crazy fast, hope it wouldn't slow down too much with 7,4V.

does any brand make hop-up parts for the e-firestorm flux?... like how RPM makes all those parts for the rustler... Thanks

Also im thinking about getting a flux, but which is better the rustler vxl or flux? which would be fast (same battery), and which one is more durable? Thanks, and please dont be bias

I managed to get a hold of a second hand "but basicly brand new" nitro firestorm for 40pounds ..... Absolutely perfect condition, not even scratched on the underside of the chassis.
so i stripped it down and saved all parts i could  and sold the engine, fuel tank chassis and gear box for 60 pounds !!!!!
just the wheels and tires would have cost me 40pounds, im one happy ebayer

Status: offline 		i myself have a Rustler VXL and a Firestorm Flux, and i love both the only problem i have found with these cars

Rustler,
the front caster blocks, and stub axle carriers are very week but you can swap them out for the firestorm set and they work a dream.
has waaaaaay too much power on a 3s lipo hahaha... can sometimes be a bad thing when racing.
i broke 6 sets of caster blocks and stub axle carriers before realising i could swap them out with the flux ones.
the heat melted the motor connections of the esc.

Flux
motor cover and front skid plate ware out way too fast.
the diff axles also ware out kind quick.

i have hadthe flux for a few months and as hard as i try i havnt broken anything more than a body shell.

but even though i love both cars i find myself always using the flux.

With the same battery the flux will be way faster then the VXL...but the vxl can run 3s the flux cant....And they dont have a lot of hop-ups for the flux....but i would get the flux....it does not need hop ups...

Status: offline 		Thanks! The handling ability was expected; I was just making sure. The sand part is very serious though. That's what killed the rustler I had. I couldn't even reliably set the gear mesh, it was so bad. Anyway, I'm currently saving up for an e-firestorm, then after that, a traxxas e-revo. Lookin' forward to driving one...

Definately going to keep racing

 I primarily wanted to run in the ST class but have also purchased a SC10 so i'm not just sitting around all day between rounds.
