Since the chassis is fairly new, I can't really expect a huge aftermarket following. It's not like the Firestorms break, lol. I'm still wondering how mine is still in one piece.

I installed a SW 5700 & ESC combo and this baby rips! Just wondering though whether there is any reason to change spur or anything else from stock E-Firestorm? The ESC is cold but the motor reaches around 55-58° after a whole charge of a A123 4600Mah battery, seems reasonable to me. Any reason to change anything?

Only problem is getting all that power onto the track and having the ability to steer. Maybe longer springs or the alumininum shocks?

Rgds,
Caaine

I have the Sidewinder and 5700 combo, you will most likely want to drop to a 17 or 18 tooth pinion, I tried an 18 personally, but needed to go to a 17. To race, it is a must to get Castle Link, I had to dial a lot of settings waaay back to keep control of the Firestorm on the track, I can still hang with the big boys too, it's not about top speed, it's about consistancy.

I am definately going with the aluminum shocks. I reluctantly took out the stock combo and popped in a SW 4600, throttle was so smooth, and the handling is incredible. My Dad wants one, and so does my brother now!

Is that due to heat or ? Why 17?

I have the Castle Link and it´s helping a lot. I only started winning "mini-matches" when I started to tone-it-down quite somewhat, err... LOTS We have 3 e-Firestorms, 2 brushless and 1 with 18T 3W motor... and he is consistent and kept winning. But not any more

Is it such a difference? Or is it enuff to get better springs for the stock shocks?

Heat for the battery, the ESC and Motor stay perfectly cool. I'm sticking with the stock shocks myself, I put some 35 weight oil in them and they are perfect.

Thanks for the reply. My battery is totally cool (A123) but as stated motor get´s a bit wam but ESC is cold. I assume it´s within specs and all good though.

Might try 35wt oil before switching to aluminum. Are you racing at a track? If so, how do you configure your springs (rear/front, stiff/soft)?

Stock springs with almost 100% preload in back and 3/4 pre-load up front. I would like to get some longer springs for the back and not have to give it so much preload though. Never had a leak yet with the 35 weight oil too, runs pretty smooth with a rutted track.
