Eric,

I didn't realize how slow my Bee accel. time was until I put it in an airframe with less wing! (in Cermark F-16 now vs. the baby boomer)
For some reason I am able to see (and adjust, I presume) the following values in the ECU menu - do any of these look slower than what is standard for a super bee - and are there any tweaks we can do to these settings without comprimising the reliablilty??

Acc Delay 025
Dec Delay 038
Stab Delay 080

TIA,

Smitty

Smitty:

Your question requires additional information.

Please provide your serial number. This is found in two places. Please check both. With the Data terminal plugged in, turn the system on. You will see in the first screen for a few seconds. the words Jet Central and the complete serial number of your turbine. Note it. Also, under the front strap on top of the turbine (forward of glow plug) you will see the serial number etched in the case. They should match. Then menu up two screens and note the software version number. . .also important.

Please send these to me @ jetartessales@aol.com for review. I will compare your current settings with the factory default settings at time of testing. Also, please include a daytime phone number so we may chat.

Thank you,

Smitty, when we see each other at a rally, or weekend venture, I can fine tune your engine settings in the ECU. I spent an hour with Philippe down at Florida Jets getting checked out on the settings and what they do. He indicated that I was qualified to perform help to other jet guys on his engines, although I am not an official "Rep".

Smitty:

I received your email; thank you. I will need additonal information to help me with the diagnosis of your concerns with acceleration times. BTW, what is the acceleration time you have now?
Please record for me the PW at idle, half and full throttle. Also, record the temps at each of these settings as well. This is very valuable information for this concern.
Please as well, check your fuel filter (on board) as well as all fuel and vent lines of the fuel tank system. I will be back in touch after I discuss the present parameters when compared to the final settings during the last test prior to shipment.

Sean:

Thanks for chiming in. I will copy you on all emails I send to smitty. As you can see, I have asked for additional information for further diagnosis. Thanks for steping up and your willingness to assist.

Best regards,

Sean and Eric both,

THank you so much for your quick help! (Sean check your PM)

Here are the additional numbers:

Idle = 55k, 442 temp, 077 pw
Half = 108k, 382 temp, 147 pw
Full = 180k, 430 temp, 419 pw

Accel time from a stopwatch = 7 - 8 seconds from Idle 55k (slamstick) to Full (high 170k's)
Decel time = 8 - 9 seconds from Full (180k) to Idle (55k) "throttle chopped"

Outside airtemp ~ 60 F
~ 800ft ASL

Interesting to note that the temp never went above 442 even during the slamstick and the highest temp was at idle.

Unfortunately Eric, it is back to school tomorrow for me (spring break is over )and I won't be able to answer my phone until after 6pm EST (5pm my time) Hopefully you will be available after hours tomorrow or another day this week.

Again,

Thanks for all the help! I really probably wouldn't have ever noticed it too much as long as it was in the boomer!
