Looks much like the 1.00
No, I don't think it looks like the 100. Take a look at the two pictures side by side. The 100 is on the left, and the 115 is on the right. The 115's cylinder looks to be a bit shorter than the 100, which means it has a shorter stroke. Since the overall displacement is larger on the 115, that also means it has a larger bore than the 100.
If (and I do mean IF) this is true, it should mean the two engines would perform differently. The lower height would also mean that the 115 will fit entirely inside the cowl of some planes, where the 100 would have to stick out of the same cowl.
In MY opinion, the more Saito models we have, the better off we are! Besides, it is another reason to buy a new engine!

I just called one of my Buds, Stanley, who works at Apex Hobbies on Saturdays, he has a brand new Horizon Catalogue but no mention of the 1.15. So, to quote Ace Ventura, "I'll just wait longer".

Horizon will ship them to dealers and you will most likely see them in the LHS showcase before they actually announce in stock availability over the internet.

This engine does combine the piston/cylinder from the FA-125 with a crancase based on the 91. It has the same width as the 91 (3mm smaller than the 100) but has the improved and stronger cam housing and crankcase. We expect these late May or early June.

I wonder what the performance differences are between that and the .125. They are pretty close in displacement, so there would have to be some additional kind of incentive to manufacture and produce two engines with displacements this close together.
I could see them trying to upgrade the 100, but I wonder if this will also take the place of the 125? Isn't the 125 a fairly new release in the past couple of years? Seems kind of odd that they would sink all that R&D and tooling money into two engines that could be close together performance-wise.
Just tossing this out...
Bob

I'm with you, Bob. Still scratching my head as to why. Normally I believe the more choices the better, but I am wondering what the benefit of this one is. Time will tell once users have the chance to do side-by-side comparisons. I am also curious about the "improved and stronger cam housing design", as I don't recall anyone having failures in that area. Just my opinion, but I still think the older design of the rounded cam housing looks better (like the .91 etc.). It must allow lighter weight with strength compared to the old design crankcase.

I think that Ken6PPC might have said it best. Shorter stroke = different performance.. I wonder if the 115 will be optomized for smaller low-pitch props props turning fast, and the 125 for larger high-pitch props turning slower...
Just a thought.
