I received the airplane today. This is my second one, I flopped the first one. (DOH!)

I picked a SS-45 ESC so that I could have the full capability of the burst amperage of the motor. I know very little about BECs so I am not sure if it will be safe to run a 4s lipo.

Will thirty minute epoxy hold up to those speeds?

How can weight be shifted to the rear. My first setup was at the forward limit of the CG range and I would like it to be a little farther to the rear.

What do you think?

according to the specs on the esc it should run it ok as long as your not running micro digital servo's. They rate that esc to handle 4 cell with a 2 amp BEC so you shouldn't have any problems as long as your running analog servo's. The epoxy will work fine, you won't have any trouble getting everything to hold up using epoxy. As far as getting your weight farther back without adding any dead weight to the plane, a couple of guys that I know that have em are relocating the esc back in the body of the plane behind the motor to shift the weight back and to get better cooling for the esc. I'm pretty sure I'm gonna do the same thing because I'm planning on using 2100 Thunder Power packs. One of the guys on the other board said he moved his fan unit closer to the tail when he put his together to make his balance out better with an 1800 4 cell. You might consider doing that also.

I'm going to move the EDF back about half an inch. Thanks for confirming that it is ok. I am running S3156 servos so they are not true digitals. At least thats what I have been told.

I purchased two 1500mAh Flight Power 4s packs today. That should help the CG but it will sacrifice on the flight times.

Is everyone putting the EDF in the stock location? I am considering moving my fan back at least an inch to move the CG back. Would this be OK?

Anyone running a 24-45-3790 motor? If so, what is your setup?

If anyone knows how to set one of these up, any input would be appreciated. What size ESC? Separate BEC?

Anyone?

HI, I did not move the fan but it is a good idea depending on the battery you will use.I have mine setup stock and with a 1320 batt i have to put it in the nose to cg so I would need to move my fan forward a tick..But I will just leave it as I think it will be fine..

I just finished putting mine together and the weirdest thing, I had to move the fan and motor forward to get my cg in line. Originally I had the fan back in the back third of the access area with the esc mounted in front of the fan unit, put the 2100 TP as far back as I could get it in the cockpit area and it was so tail heavy it almost fell off my CG machine. I moved the fan back into the front with the impeller right behind the intake area and moved my battery to just about the halfway point in the cockpit and it balances spot on now. I got the 24-33-4875 kv ammo inrunner installed with an eflite 40 amp esc. I'm using eflite s-75 servo's with a spektrum 6100e rx. I haven't got any weights done yet, but I spooled up the fan for the first time after install and it's got enough power that it get's light in my hand while holding it vertical.

I'd be really curious as to how your plane balances out when you get finished with it. The weather report looks good for tomorrow, so I might actually get a chance to get a couple of flights in with it.

I am using Futaba S3156 MG servos.

Well, I got about 6 flights with my albatross today. Weight with a 2070 TP pack was 20oz. The plane flew pretty good actually, was actually moving faster than another club members 40 size p-51 mustang. It got some 2nd looks today when I raced the mustang down the runway, and beat it.
Didn't take the radar gun with me so I don't know how fast it was flying, but it sure looked fast anyway. Hope your flight goes as well as mine did.

It's a park flyer, but it needs an area about the size of a soccerfield. I don't think I would try and fly it in an area much smaller, but then again, mine is pretty far from a stock setup, and it covers quite a bit of ground in a hurry.

As far as how hard to fly, I would probably rate this one as an intermediate or maybe advanced beginner. It's really pretty stable and does fly slow, I wouldn't recommend it for a beginner though.

Shouldn't be a problem getting one, they're not a limited edition that I know of, just out of stock for a while.

I wouldn't see any problems with it, but you might do a couple flights with it on a buddybox just to be on the safe side
