Status: offline 		My mentor is going to be helping with hooking up a new 37 to my Caliber. I was going to attach the clutch to the engine myself when he told me it wasnt that easy and tools were required. Apparently it also involved removing the back plate off the engine and doing something with the crankshaft ??????????????? what the Heck is he talking about. Wouldnt that void the warranty ?

Status: offline 		No it doesn't void the warranty, infact doing it another way might. Check out the EVO 50 or Titan 50 reviews in the magazine section, skip to the engine installation and the procedure is detailed using the proper tools.

Status: offline 		well I saw him do it yesterday. It had nothing to do with the prop shaft. All he did was take the back plate of and use a nylon piston lock so we could tighten the clutch on. The other method would have been to insert this piston lock rod down the hole for the glow plug but that would/may have put undue stress on the head or even dimpled it....It was interesting to watch.

Status: offline 		You don't lock the piston you lock the crankshaft with that method.

There is a groove in the tool, it sits on top of the rod and captures the crank pin and holds it in place.
