I decided to purchase a set of plans from Model Airplane News back in 2004 for a Twin Aircraft. This aircraft was designed by Roy Day. I started building right away and then shelved it to build a couple of kits. I started and stopped a couple times over the last year and am now ready to paint.... Used Koverall...Not sure on the colour scheme yet....

Joe,
Nice job, looking good. I thought I was the only one that ever bought these plans :-) . . . I to have started and stopped mine several times now also. Been building a Junior 60 and a twin Catalina water plane but have just started to get back to my TT2 . . .
I pondered on the whole twin tail setup but could not see a suitable 'non slop' way to do the linkage on a plane this size so opted for a single rudder but of the same area.
I wanted mine to serve as a trainer for a twins, but have since aquired a couple of pre-assmbled jobbies and have found there is no mystery or diffulties with twins, but that the secret lies in good solid plumbing and treating an engine out as a dead stick.
I never thought of painting mine TT2, you must post some pitures when you have sprayed it. With what type of piant and method are you going to use? Did you glass the center section and the nacels as suggested by the plans?
Below are a couple of pics and a link to my club site . . .

siddus74,
Really nice work on that Twin!!
I checked out your building progress on your club site...Nice...
I did reinforce the wing and nacels with fiberglass. I plan on using Latex paint and sealing with polyurethan... Thinking of a "Beatup Look" Like an old courier plane........
Keep up the good work....Would like to see more progress pic's..........

Latex paint, is that from a spay can or gun? What make of pint would that be - I never seen to ba able to get a good finish with paint. Do you have a scheme in mind - if so I would be interested to see it. I am goin british army with mine, green with the ww2 aviation stripes may like my cub . . . How did you do the nose cone, i but it was a real job to cover that in film :-) im dreading mine. Im not sure to use pink foam or balsa layers . . . maybe a close up of yours would be good.

I will be using flat latex paint (Behr). I mix it with windshield washer fluid until I get it to a Milky consistancy. Apply with a spray gun. I set the air pressure to @ 40 psi....practice spraying onto a piece of glass....should go on "powder like".... Use a primer first...light coat....fill in any "bad spots with light filler...sand and touch up with primer..... I will post some pics.......... For the nose I picked up a 6" square block of foam from a craft store.....I then rough cut to shape and then final sand as per the nose cone profile on the drawing...I then cut a piece of 1/8 lite ply to fit on the back of the nose cone and glue in place...after the glue has set drill a 1/4" hole into the centre of the lite ply @ at centre...Then insert a 1/4" dowel through the back plate @ 21/2" into the foam....Now you have what looks like an ice cream cone....(taste good but it's soo bad for you!!) Clamp the 1/4" dowel into a table vise....Then using 3/4oz fibreglass cut into 11/2" x 6" strips....epoxy to nose cone..... Once everything has dried fill in any bad spots and sand....Cut the 1/4" dowel off flush with the back plate and glue onto fuse...
I will use the same method for the engine cowls....I will make one (1) plug...and cover with a plastic wrap...then epoxy fibreglass ...the plastic protects the plug and will be able to use for the other nacelle....
Hope this helps.........

It's a good idea to build twin-trainer first! I am in progress with Royal Beech Baron, but now flying a trainer built from single-engined trainer. I just made a new wing for it... Looks pretty ugly, but flies great! Powered by 2 Magnum .61 4-strokes, 1800mm wing span (70.8 inches)
