One other note:

If you have the existing tube, or even a piece of it, measure the diameter.

You can then purchase an equivalent ( or maybe even stronger tube ) from many sources.

You want something identical in diameter, but it could be the same size in length or slightly longer.

You can always cut a slightly longer tube with a hacksaw.

If you can measure it, and post the dimensions, I'll help you look for a replacement.

Found it.

K&S has "cut to length" ( you request how long you want it ) hollow alluminum tubing...

See: http://www.ksmetals.com/Cuttolength/chart.asp#RAT

Click me as an alternative.

Scroll down to the Aluminum tubing sizes.

They have what you need.

Actually Stang's idea can still be used.

The aluminum tube is hollow.

If you wanted to you could insert a CF tube within the aluminum one, that way you would get the best of both worlds.

A CF tube is pretty light so this would not load down the plane.
