Hey Mart, run the push rod in a copper tube that will stop it flexing.

Mart,I like your build so far,and will be watching as you progress.I won the Zippkits Rocket from the raffle MGB had,so any tips or comments you get on your thread will also benefit me or others that are building a Rocket.I have my building table, glue ,clamps, sandpaper, and other hobby tools ready.I don't have any bricks though.I do have 1 gallon jugs I can fill with water for weight.I'll either put in it a Zen 260 or a Sikk marine that I have sitting here.Take it slow and easy and post lots of pics.

Cheers mate you will love this kit it goes together in no time,if i had all the bits at hand id have it half done by now .The sikk will push this boat well theres plenty running them with sikks allready. Its just in the thunderboat class i think the rules are you can only run a stock zenoah but for those not racing by those rules anything goes .

Steve i planned on using either carbon tube brass aluminium copper whatever i can get to do the job cheers anyway mate, have a safe flight chat when you get back .

Cheers Tony where could i race it?bet it means travelling down south no doubt ,does this mean you think i darent ? ,never been scared just not that interested in racing or should i say the traveling it seems to involve .Then theres the cost ,the more i think about it the worse it gets .If there was somewhere not too far like a club that held races it could be fun maybe.I know theres a club In Bridlington that someone might have mentioned ages ago that ran hydros not sure?,maybe when im in yorkshire visitting my parents ill take a trip with it and see.

Dont forget you need some driving practice!!! Driving a hydro is a hoot!! Nothing like sliding your way through a turn.

Always loved the hydros

Mart, the fees for the club at Trafford Water Center include insurance. It's only 20 mins or so away from me. It can get quite choppy though cos the the end they allow us to use is where the jetskis are, or at least it used to be, they may have renegotiated now it's a legit club.
My cousin owns Cheshire Model Supplies and I know he was talking about starting a club there, might be him that's running it, dunno, not spoken to him for 18 months or so.

i agree about the travelling , but if you can start at club racing and then go from there , thats how it happerned for me just got together for some friendly sunday racing with some other nutters and got the pratice in them moved over to national racing and omra
pitty the club has now closed down as its a 120 round trip for some testing !!!!!!!!

you shot some vidio of windy windy last year is that far for you ? that one ggod race and its a weekender too
plenty for racing arround brum area too thats 3.5 hrs for me one way

club racing will bring your skills up ( not saying your not skilled !!!! ) but its another level from just blasting up and down on a sunday afternoon , or morning !!!!

as for the hydro as matt has said driving them is very good fun , a bit like an escort with bald tryes in the wet ,,,,,,, plenty fun

Cheers Kev for that i seem to remember a few videos of some boats running there and it looked pretty choppy .
Tony thanks for the reply mate yea windy is about 1 1/2 hrs drive away,if im totally honest racing competativeley has never been something ive been interested in i guess its either in your blood or its not .I know how much it costs just to keep a decent sports boat running etc and can only imagine what the costs of actually trying to race competetiveley would be.Guess ill just stick to bashing about on a sunday or whenever the mood takes me,probably on my tod but if the hydro runs well ill build another for my lad so we can race.

Once you have the runnig gear and the boat - which you have, there is no real reason that racing needs to be that expensive - you have made the outlay on the kit, so all that's needed is ra
