Over the past...coming up on two years, my father and I have been restoring a Pitts S-1C back to airworthy condition. I plan on using it for IAC competitions and maybe some shows here and there. The build was on hold for about six months while my father was in Iraq. Now that he has returned, we have begun the "3 Weeks to Running" project. The aircraft is very near flying condition again, and as the title says, we plan on having the engine running in three weeks. Hopefully we don't hit too many nasty snags along the way. Here is a link to my site with a Pitts build log as well as many other aviation related stuff:

Thanks for looking!

Just checked in for an update. Congrats!! Gorgeous S-1! My boss has one also, had it restored and before first flight Hurricane Ivan took out some hangar doors and put the Pitts into his Knight Twister, slightly damageing both. The KT is repaired (almost) but now we are about to start on the Pitts. Not too bad, mostly aileron damage so should be up and running in a month or so. Good luck in competition!

I posted this on various sites and I apologize because I forgot to update it here. Anyway, the Pitts was running in only two weeks...ahead of schedule. Here is a video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rl72RKFK9SA

Also, we have continued work on the aircraft and it has been taxied three times, and run about seven or eight times. The first flight is near!

Yes it is. It has 800 hours on it since it was manufactured. At the time the pressure carb was not completely adjusted, thus the reason it was running so rich.

Thanks guys! The engine is an O-360 with 9.5-1 pistons giving it almost 200HP. We will upgrade it more after the aircraft flies. We also have plans on the way for the new wings we will begin building shortly after the first couple flights.

We have some major cowling work. It wasn't damaged, we're just modifying it. There is also a bit of touch up work...then she will be flying again.

I'm also in the process of looking for a nose art/name...If anyone has any ideas....

Well here is the scoop...we have a new goal. May 31 the aircraft will have flown, or be completely ready to fly. Here are some updates on my site:

Not yet. The first attempt was to be today. But we had high winds gusting to 40+ mph. Hopefully tomorrow we will get to try again. However, it doesn't look to promising until this Friday when the winds are supposed to die down.
