For those who don't have or can't afford one of the Sims regularly listed here, but might have MS Flight Sim 2004 or FSX. Start up the program as normal with the plane or heli you want then switch your view to Tower view. Your plane will be now be pictured in front of you on the runway like any other Sim. I had a little tweaking to do to get the program to recognize my Esky 4ch Tx but it worked OK. You can always fall back to your joystick if your Tx isn't recognized, I know it isn't quite the same but you can still learn alot of the basics this way.

You can do the same thing with FlightGear. FlightGear is simular to FS or X plane.
But Flightgear is FREEE!!!. There's even R/C models in Flightgear.

FMS is FREE
Heli-x is also FREE. (helicopters only)
CRRCsim is also free (fixed wings only)
HelisimRc is another free one (heli only)

You can make photolistic scneries for FMS...it just use a skybox.
If you do a little reserch it's not that hard. It helps if you have the cube the sphere.
Bascailly convert an equirectangular pano into a skybox...just like the G3.

But you don't even have to convert them anymore...lol
becuase Heli-x uses skyboxes for it's scneneries...so just use those .jpg images and
convert them into .bmp (24 bit) images to use it in FMS.
You can make photolistic runways, heli pads...objects just like the other sims..
It just takes time and the know how.. I've done it.
I have runways or objects in my FMS photo sceneries
But if you don't have the time and have the money...get the other sims ...I guess.

No smoking in the freebie section thou..lol

I dunno..some people are filghting the chase mode (cockpit veiw) for FMS.
Just download Flightgear..the terrrain in flightgear are 1000 times bigger

Flight Simulator is a VERY accurate sim. I'm working on my PPL, and it's pretty amazing how realistic the simulation is. It definitely helps me stay sharp.
