keithn4 -> rx/tx reciever sevo for mini pulse xt and general disscussion (3/29/2008 3:26:52 AM)

hey guys,

have had a super cub for bout 8-9months,
im thinking bout upgrading to a e-flite mini pulse. i have lipos in the supercub. unreal power. savage bird with lipo's. i have taken to flying like a duck to water. only crash ive had is when the winds have been 15mph+. i no i shouldn't have flown it, but sure a man will always learn

my question is will the dx6 servos/tx/rx work with the mini pulse?

the plan would prob be to get the tx/rx/ servo first, then put this stuff in to the super clubwith aierlions, then move to mini pulse. will this stuf work with the mini pulse?

plus what else can i use it with?
sorry for such a noob question!

ive done a load of research on the pulse, and it seems like a good 2nd plane, such a good glide path for landing, that would be the only thing that would concern me with flyng any new plane, cause i fly high with any thing new. (safe than no plane)

just to say again have had no probs flying s-club even in winds 10+. (i mean no crashes.)

i really want ot get into flyng, cause its mental the thrill ya get from it is nearly unrivaled. (nearly) espically with lipo's.

this is the tx/rx im getting. i think it comes with sevos. will the servos work?
do i need to get better servos? its the dx6

thanks for any help

Hi Keith,

Well - you sure are confident [;)]

Like most balsa ARFs the pulse has to be basically a no accident plane. They can be repaired in some cases, but in others it wont be worth your time.

You will need 7-9 gram servos to fly her - I don't know what comes with the DX6 but if it matches that description you should be okay. The TX and RX would be fine.

The mini pulse can be landed dead stick just like any aircraft, and like most powered aircraft it lands best, and most reliably with a powered approach and landing. You can try these with your cub. The key to landing well is all about getting the speed right. Any fool can arrive at a fixed point on the ground. Arriving at the right speed so that you can touch down and roll out safely is the challenge.

I had the pulse for a while (til a glitch claimed her). She is a lovely plane and I'm sure will serve you well. Do take your time getting used to her and don't get overconfident.

Best of luck.

Cheers,
Oz.

Hi Keith - [:)] Nothing like a Guiness or a Kilkenny or two to help with the ah..., confidence [;)]

In all seriousness based on what you said, you could have a lot of fun with a stryker, or other wing. By a bare airframe, choose a motor and speedie (from UH motor plus speedie plus 3s Lipo will only cost you about 70 US Pesos, or 2 Euros (okay maybe a few more than 2 Euros but you get the idea)).

Wings are lots of fun - fast, dependable, can handle a bit of rough and tumble. They do get boring once you've done enough flying, at which stage you convince your mate who has one to come flying as well and fly combat against each other. Other thoughts are a formosa/badius - foam pattern plane - pretty big step, but will take a couple of impacts.

Other thoughts...

If you are into scale a PZ Spitfire is a beauty, and easy to fly for a warbird (although the hand launches are a bit hairy). Some of the GWS warbirds and copies are good value (cheap as chips - particularly with a cheap n cheerful outrunner) although some may require a little more building.

You can have a surprisingly large amount of fun with an estarter/minimag or GWS Tigermoth 400 - particularly if you like scale the tiger moth can be a nice into - go brushless from the get go - and then point her noise into the air, fly her stall, and random control inputs..., fun!

Sorry I didn't get back to you for so long - have been not paying too close attention to this site, but feel free to drop me a PM if you want my opinion on anything.

Cheers,
oz.
