If the powers that be, from AMA an the factories would come on this forum an offer an apology to the people here that keep them in a job, it would go a long ways towards righting this wrong

Ronnie-The Toolman

An apology for what? First off the people in Muncie are not the AMA, the members are the AMA and they are just the EC's employee's. If anyone needs to come on this forum and needs to make an apology, it's the people in this forum and others in which Greg Hahn is speaking. Greg Hahn should have statue created after his image and laid at the entrance to the Muncie site for a job well done and long overdue.

And the statue of you would be where?????? With your nose firmly inserted in his statues prosterior, I presume???????

Stpilot,

I am going to stay on the high road here but frankly thats a load of Hoo Haw.
You need to decide which is the truth. Are the people in Muncie the AMA or aren't they? I have seen you say it both ways so frankly I am a little confused.

The people in Muncie, that we elect ARE the AMA in terms of representation to the membership and the public. As AMA members we all bear a responsibility to conduct ourselves in a proper fashion. This goes for everyone including the editor of MA and anyone he invites to present an article. The upshot of all this was although Greg has a great point, it has been utterly lost due to a very poor presentation.

My Dad taught me a little saying. He said "Son, it's important that you know how to tell people to go to Hell so they will enjoy the trip".
Had the article been written at all effectively, the message would have come across and perhaps a few folks would have learned something, but sadly, this is what happens when you let emotion type for you.

I recognize mistakes happen, it is simply too bad that given what I consider to be an important message has been lost in the shuffle.

As far as a statue being erected, wow that is frankly such a silly thing to say I will refrain on commenting more than I have. It would just sound derisive.

STL OMG this is a new low even for you! A statue of Greg Hahn! I really don't care about his column, what I do care about is AMA printing it. The forums are democracy in action, just in a new format. When the guy stood on his soap box in the village square shouting his opinions to the sky for all to hear, the passing public could stop and listen or walk on by. If they chose to listen they could agree or disagree. The internet is no different, for every pseudo-fact (as Greg calls them) posted with in two posts someone states an opposing opinion or pseudo-fact. It is up to the reader to decide which he agrees with, if any of it, do his own research and form his own opinions or pseudo-facts. As far as negative forums scaring away newbies because they may think this hobby is to difficult, if that is all it takes they would not have become rc hobbyists anyway! This hobby is difficult, why do we think it is necessary to hide that fact? It is because it is a challenge that it is rewarding. Now if you think the guy who starts with a $30 aero hog from Wal-mart is an RC hobbyist then yes these awful posts may scare him away. Fact is, (sorry pseudo-fact), very few of those who try RC, especially those limiting their investment to an aero hog, ever become avid RC hobbyists, no matter how much AMA lowers the PPP membership or has Greg try ot intimidate those of us practicing freedom of speech.

Let's face it, no apology is going to be issued, all we can do at this point is continue to attempt to shame them into "man-ing up" to what's been done. Either that or try to find some humor in this mess.
Try this, re-read GHs' editorial, but do it with the voice of either Barney Fife or Richard Simmons in your mind and try to visualize the speakers' arms flailing wildly during the speech. Works for me

An apology? I figured you'd settle for no less than a total housecleaning.

I tried that visual, but I kept coming up with something more like Charlton Heston at the NRA convention, only instead of a musket, he's clinching a Futaba radio.

stl, you just amaze me at what lengths you will go to feather your own nest. You will switch sides at anytime if it will help you out. I am sure that most on here have very little respect for anything you say 99.9% of the time. Sometime when your not busy, wander over to the probro forum an read the 3 or 4 pages about you there.

Hmmm, I better check out that ProBro forum and see if I'm in their "poop bucket" too.
In a way, it's an honor of some sort?

STL, really a statue. Hey wait, you may be on to something here. Maybe we should have 2 statues on the front porch of Muncie, Greg Hahn's and STL. One on each side of the main entrance. With any luck, the birds of Muncie could fly by the statues and do what a lot of the AMA membership really want to do, but can't. This could work. Maybe once a week we could have the gardner drop by and hose the statues down, so then the birds can start all over again. I hardly ever agree with you on anything, but this one is a smash hit. Shall I call a sculpture? As I have stated before, Mr. Hahn owes all of us an apology as name calling has never been acceptable in any instance. I understand what he was trying to say and I do agree with most of it, however some of it is just plain smoke screen and BS. The name calling was completly uncalled for and is completly unacceptable in any venue, no matter what point you are trying to make. The simple fact that Mr. Hahn has not made an attempt at retracting the statement or made an attempt to explain his statement speaks volumes. Oh wait, he might be busy with the sculpture. Dave

These views are mine and not RCU. Thanks Dave

David,

See my previous post.

I like the idea of the birds being allowed to do their thing on the statues as well. The Technical Director could be the one detailed to hose down the statuary, since I don't think the T.D. is allowed to mow the grass any longer.

I think there will be an apology - a real, honest to goodness apology and not an excuse.

I really doubt the AMA recognizes how much restraint has been shown on this and other forums. I also doubt the AMA understands how far reaching the column was in terms of damage to the AMA now and in the future. I give GH the benefit of the doubt, but only because of very poor writing skills that should never have made it to print - particularly with my AMA dues money! I still can't believe that mess made it to print.

Interestingly, I had chosen a Futaba as my next radio purchase. Not any more, not without an AMA apology.

I do take this very seriously. I'm blessed to rub elbows with some of the most exceptional RC icons in the Pacific Northwest and I'd never speak for them, nor would I quit the AMA and not be able to fly with them at the local field. The one thing I can do is not buy Futaba.

And I won't until there's an apology.

Blue Sky,
Why are you willing to punish FUTABA for something GH said? Yes, he was at one time a so called big wig. Now, he is just something for hogs to eat and wallow in. Anyway, the problem that FUTABA had was identified, isolated and corrected in a timely manner. Again, why punish a mfg for a former ill willed employee?

Maybe there is something here we don't know about Mr. Hahn? Was he actually canned? Hmmmm...Makes me wonder now. Especially with all the ill will he has thrown around about FUTABA. Think about it.
