Well, I am the proud new owner of a Caster ZX-1R rtr so I thought I'd put in my two cents. I bought the buggy yesterday (Saturday) morning, and spent all day breaking her in. I'm absolutely impressed with this buggy. First off, for $350 I really don't think there is a better buggy on the market in that price range. The engine is very solid, after six full tanks of fuel running rich to break it in, I have yet to so much as fry a plug. It stalled once after I tried to bring the RPMs up a bit after letting it idle for what seemed like forever, but fired right up again and kept going. I managed to get some drive time in and I swear this thing handles like a truggy. Nice and stable, yet very responsive. I did have one minor issue thus far, and although I'm not happy about the situation, I am happy with how it's been handled and what I'm going to say will say a LOT about the awesome customer service that Caster offers. One thing I discovered during the break in process is that the rear diff wasn't shimmed properly or something, and the gears are toast. There were little chunks of gear all over teh chassis plate. Not cool. This, understandably, upset me a bit since the enine hasn't even seen full throttle yet, and it's already on the bench. So I took it back to the hobby shop today to get it sorted out. Now, I'm lucky enough to live in Des Moines, IA. Hobby Haven has some of teh best staff ever, which is helpful enough, but Caster's warehouse happens to be less than an hour away. So tehy called one of teh guys from Caster to see if we could get the diff today (this is on a Sunday!) but they got his voicemail. They offered to keep trying and if tehy got ahold of him, tehy would call me back and let me know if I was making a trip to the warehouse or not. Mike (Hak) happened to walk in the door at that very moment, and without a second thought he offered to take care of the issue for me, no questions asked. Now, I was fully expecting to have to buy a new diff, adn I would have, but no. I will have a new diff delivered and installed before next weekend. No waiting weeks on end for parts to come in, no extra ding in my wallet. I can honestly say I never expected that and it's one more thing that makes me glad I took a chance on Caster. In the neantine, I took the opportunity to swap in my one of my high-torque Futaba servos for teh steering and the stock steering servo is now on the throttle/brake side. That really seems to make a difference. I can actually get the brakes to lock up real tight now - actually too much, so I'll need to dial them out a touch, and the steering is a bit more responsive. So once it's back in action it should be that much better. God I can't wait to finish the break-in and get her tuned... I honestly hope that anyone who reads this understands you can pay a grand for one of the high-dollar buggies and that's great. But for under $400 you'll get one hell of a ride and a company that stands behind their product. Nuff said.
