Well I figured I would start a new thread the for Caster Racing ZX1-R since nobody seemed to know what a Caster buggy thread was LOL! I will be posting some pics and info on this buggy soon. Very well built and on par with the mugen, losi and other high quality buggies. If anyone wants to read up on some info for this buggy and there K8T truggy go here Casterracingusa.com and also here Casterracing.com

How does the truggy compare to the ST-RR?

As of today at the track where I did some suspensions changes it is very close. I got the rear to loosen up pretty good like the ST-RR which help alot the way I drive. I think all that is missing is the Big Bores to see a real difference in blown out sections which right now the ST-RR has it over the caster and the steering is still sharper on the ST-RR but not by alot. Once caster comes out with there Big bores I think it will be set.

Just got the 3 piece engine mount for my buggy, Pretty nice and much easier to get the motor in and out and not have to reset the gear mesh every time. You can find them at http://holeshothobbies.com.

i got one of the older models off ebay for 100 bucks. it's pretty sweet. carbon fiber parts, sweet shock towers and cva's but the best part? It turns on a dime. it maybe a "clone" as some would say but for the price i got it, it works just fine. Although i did change the front pbs parts to the newer mugen style. Then i got a mega .21 on ebay new for 100 bucks. just getting that broke in. a new dynamite high speed pipe new for 50 bucks. had servos and radio from my old mugen buggy so the total for this years buggy???? about 270. not bad for a pretty sweet buggy.

It is a awesome buggy! My friends have both the mugen buggies and truggies and honestly I cannot see a single part on the mugen that is built better than the Caster's. They are high quality and run awesome. The buggy is the smoothest and most stable buggy I have driven and do not regret at all selling my Losi 8ight buggy to keep the ZX1-R! The buggy can be pushed hard and not lose control like on the losi.

After running the caster tonight with the new setup, compared to my old 8ight buggy I can honestly say it will out turn the 8ight in the turns, and out handle the 8ight in blown out sections in a heartbeat. My friend who also has a 8ight buggy drove the Caster ZX1-R today and he said the same thing, that it was the easiest buggy he has ever driven and agrees with me 100% He could not believe it. He could not go 2 laps without flipping or crashing his 8ight all the time because of how twitchy and easy to flip and he drove a whole tank and more and only flipped the caster once and that is all. This thing feels stable like a truggy when you drive it.

So I saw one of these at the local shop and I really don't know much about them. I checked out their website but I'm curious to hear from people who actually own one. I'm not a racer, just a basher, so I'm curious, bang for the buck, would this be a good one to consider for my first 4wd? I've really been considering getting an OFNA Ravager since my brother has one and it's been really reliable and durable so far, and I drive it here and there and it's pretty easy to handle how he has it set up. I want something that's relatively easy to drive and isn't going to break the bank. I've learned to drive on a 2wd stadium truck so I'm sure ANY 4wd is going to be a different animal but I've heard some of the race-bred buggies can be difficult to get used to.

Usually buggies are very twitchy and flip over easy. Alot of people say it is better to start off with a truggy but since you already run a 2WD you should be ok with how hard those are on the dirt. The caster buggy is a awesome buggy. I found it to be very stable and smooth compared to my other buggies I had (8ight, Hurricane, Ofna Ultra LX One and LX GT). I have driven it pretty hard recently and I have not broken a part since I have owned it but I also do not bash, I only run on tracks. The ZX1-R is way above as far as quality compared to the Ravager and is on par with the Mugen (which most parts will fit from it) and also the 8ight and X-ray. You will not be disappointed with it. Also did you go to the forum on the Caster website. There is a bunch or people on there that have them.

I suppose it would depend on your definition of basher. If you just drive it around not on a track and have fun with it, or are you planning on running it full throttle into buildings and building ramps to jump over motorhomes....

The Caster product line is equivalent to the higher end buggies and truggies. They are priced a little cheaper since they are new to the scene in the U.S. Parts prices are also a little cheaper compared to the high end brands. They are designed as race vehicles and have a reputation of phenominal handling. I suppose that you could go and bash with one since it is of the same durability as all the other 1/8 scale brands and all 1/8 scales are much more durable than 1/10 scales.

If you try to jump it over your house or something crazy like that, make sure you video tape it and put it up here or at youtube. Good luck with your decision.

No, no jumping houses. Well, maybe after a 12-pack of Amberbach and a triple-dog-dare... No, actually I'm just more about having fun with it. The BMX track on the south side of Des Moines is one of our favorite spots and there are some pretty big jumps that could make for a bad day if you get stupid about it. But that's about as extreme as I get. Usually we just go to the park and mess around.
