I saw in MA this month a FF plane made of straws and plastic wrap. I have searched a bit on the internet and can't seem to find any more information regarding this technique. Any links to plans and or methods would be greatly appreciated.

Try over in the 1/2A Forum.
Them .010 Cox planes are pretty small, they probably can point you in the right direction.

All this talk about soda straw and Saran Wrap planes MUST STOP AND MUST STOP NOW, or the balsa suppliers will stop selling to the hobby industry and sell only to ship manufacturers!!!!!!!!

Its OK CP, I think he's gonna get them Sig SodaStraws and a roll of Tower FoodWrap... should be around $32.50 before shipping

Have to get hobby grade straws, the normal ones melt under Nitro, and I can only assume he's gonna put a hot TD on the nose

Well, that's OK then....but we better wait to see what Greg has to say about it. He might not approve of soda straws being used that way.
Do you think there would be any interest in a AMA sponsored Soda Straw Plane Contest?
I'll have the "TEAM DOW-CORNING" emblazoned shirts and white pants uniforms done up .

OK folks... Thanks for ALL the help. I posted in this forum because as I stated, I originally saw the plane in MA and I know most of the guys in this section of RCU have been around a long time and might just have some insights. I should have known you would find a way to turn it into an argument. In case anyone else is interested... The plane in question is called Mama Bear. It is 82" span, 2 cell lipo powered plane with an AUW of ~2lbs. His website is FlyingPuppets. Unfortunately he was unwilling to provide me with any detailed information without first purchasing his online book...

Ok, no problemo.
I would suggest some more places to try, but I dont think that would help.

As a frequenter of the 1/2A forum,
I fond it odd that the only helpful suggestion you got here was to try asking there....
which you did not do.
They talk about the small ones. They talk about construction and technology of building light & small... heck, we even occasoinally get a thread on a glider or electric. Meat tray wings, balsa, doculam film vs celophane... you would have probably gotten someone to point out more places, or at least some conversation on truss design & antitorque compression only members.

What kind of responses did you get in the indoor/micro electric froum?
Or in the Scratch build / design forum?
Tips & Techniques forum?
If I suggest any of them, will you try asking there?

I just saw the plane you are talking about, pretty cool. It seems like the indoor rubber band powered folks may have some information on this, as the method seems most similar to that...but I am just speaking from seeing the picture.

Re Bottomfeeders,
I just read something about what to do when you have nothing nice to say...

pretty sure that post was inflamatory, off topic, & crossthreading... Shall we star the countdown to Moderation?

Some of us, ok, just me, are trying to direct the guy to folks that might be able to help.

There is something tragically humorous about a guy who wont give away his secrets to successful soda straw plane construction.
