It wouldn't matter where on the spur gear that the pinion touches, it will turn the same direction where ever it touches, but if you could put the pinion on the inside of the spur gear, then it would turn a different way.
The motors turn in opposite directions.

Now I'm trying to figure out which of the two blades is bent and the best way to straighten it back. Not terribly critical, but a bit annoying nonetheless. I think my blade decorating days are over.

Hey again Hawksbill,

I have heard of someone heating the blades for a minute in a hot pot of water and then sitting them on a flat surface before. Haven't tried it though - sorry! This would soften the plastic enough to make it pliable, and then harden it up upon cooling....Ensure, if you try it, to place them on a FLAT (heat-safe ) surface!

Peter
P.S. I don't think this would remove the "wing" shape of the blade heaps - it would return when cooling I hope.
UPDATE: See my post (# 2406) just below for another thought!

Hey again Wheelnut,

Thanks mate. I wasn't sure. That would make it LESS important to buy matched motors IMO Also the "prop" pot on 4in1 could be adjusted to compensate for any torque diff. between the motors - O yea!

That's a good idea. I've done that before with plastic miniature figures for boardgames (my other hobby), when they come out of the box all bent up. Maybe I'll try that. Thanks!

The motors turn in different direction. This is dictated by how the motors plug into the 4 in 1. They can be plugged in either way so watch how you do it. The upper blade motor is the A or back motor on the V3. Mine is plugged into the top port of the 4 in1 with the flat side of the connector facing out. The B motor (Front) is in the bottom port with the back (open) side of the connector facing out. If they are wrong just reverse the plug.
Easier to do than explain.
Gears have nothing to do with it.

Hey again JD,

If you remove both of the blades (the one that is bent AND it's opposite) - and heat up one in water, you can then rest it firmly on the other to cool, thus taking it's shape! Make sense?

Well, got it in the mail today. Charged the battery and popped it in. I must say, this is pretty easy to fly. I am surprised at just how easy it is. I can easily hover a whole pack in a 6'x6' area. I can damn near make it stay perfectly still a whole pack if I wanted to. This makes the sim feel hard. Very, very nice!!! Now, I just need to master the nose in hover.........

Hey again ronerik,

Nice bird! I don't mean to poach you from this thread - but if you want a challenge - but not the "set-up time" of a CP then try the Honeybee FP v2!! I have got lots of different coaxials - including the Big Lama - but am finding that this bird is the most challenging to me! Of course, orientation flying (learn the nose-in hover REALLY well) comes first, but you posted that you used to fly more difficult birds (ones that I couldn't nor wouldn't dream of trying) so even THIS should come back to you after a while....!

P.S. The link is just so you can see what I am talking about. Try sellers nearer to you
P.P.S. I was even contemplating buying an orange Lama4 for my hanger - I still might!

I have read about different batteries and pros and cons.

What is the best batteries to day for a Lama 4?
I've got one with stock motors and one with Xtreme180SE motors. I have today a mixture of batteries from stock up to Xtreme 20C

If You have a good link to were to buy I will be happy. I use to buy from miraclemart, Boomtown, RC-711 and somtimes some else that I have forgotten about.

Hey again JorgenD,

I find that both the GE Power 900mAh 15C & the Mystery 900mAh 20C give me the best results with coaxials....

I think I'm going to jump in on this one. I don't know, I just like the looks of it. http://www.xheli.com/blueray-450.html I had a Hummingbird and hated it. Wayyy to twitchy and just hard to fly. The Corona was a very easy bird to fly. I loved it, but I was tracking the blades and did it like 4 times while drinking and the 5th time I forgot I had the esc armed. So when you go up on the transmitter it gave it full throttle, Caught my knuckle in the blade path. Was so ticked I sold it the next day on eBay. I just recently got the guts to get back into it.

Hey again ronerik,

Cheap & good quality. I know of two other fliers that have that very bird! Just what the doctor ordered! Being a CCPM, be prepared to spend A LOT of time setting it up for flight , and when you crash it, spending a lot more (and $) - but it looks like the next step for you! I wish you the best! A different ballgame those CCPMs from FP helicopters!

Hi Peter and all ...

... long time no see umh read

First impression (as promised a while ago) about the battteries I ordered ( yeah the expensive ones     - just because it fits well here.
To solve the mystery about the brand - they are Thunderpower Pro Lite V2 and supposed to be really great batteries ... too bad I couldn't  test that yet, as they have a different charge plug and I did not yet get my adapters (for my regular Esky chargers) ... this alread makes each battery 3$ more expensive
Next thing that I do not like - the company seems to boldly misrepresent the weight of the products - the 1320mAh that was supposed to be 59g had 64.something, which is an almost 10% misrepresentation, and the one that was supposed to be 35g (on the company website they even claim it is 34G!!!) was 39.xy - so almost 40g - what is a misrepresentation of almost 15%!!!
I am of the opinion, that if you spend that much money on a battery, at least you should be able to rely on the claims the company makes ....
The next update will come once I get my adapters and can charge them up ...

Regards,
Sven

Hey again hottrk51,

If you are meaning the Mystery or the GE Power - I just get them via ebay from HongKong (the source of all inexpensive electronics.... ) Mystery @ $12.50 are available from USHobby.com. (Also USHobbySupply.com has Megapower 850mAh (@ $11.25 for a limited time) that are my third choice)

well guys i took both helis out this morning. I was able to hover the HBFPv2 down the park with gusty conditions but decided not to fly it as I didnt want to crash it. So i fired up the V4 (off the same TX mind you, no rebinding at all). I took off for a speed run as i normally do and it gained altitude quickly. It started to lean over to one side and then death rolled. I sortta recovered but she still came down hot and hard. I ran over to inspect damage and it seems only the stock blue esky canopy was broken.

I guess this gives me an excuse to paint my new extreme canopy (thanks pete). I think I will paint it a yellow base coat. I want to be able to see it in the sky easily. The other problem I had with my other extreme canopy was that it was hard to tell what direction it was facing. I might even see if the LHS has a CX2 one.

Hope you are all flying well.

B.

Hey again Brendon,

It sounds like you didn't give the motors enough time to warm up before giving it the stick and the head stalled
May I make some suggestions as to painting your Xtreme canopy?? Definitely spray the inside of a clear canopy - this gives the outer surface the shine and even-ness of spray! Use as little paint as possible - to keep the weight to a minimum (as Xtreme canopy is already the heaviest that I know of ) and lastly, you COULD try painting the portside of your canopy bright blue and the starboard side bright yellow with a black dividing line down the front to help you with orientation. Of course you have to handpaint the black dividing line first (due to it being on the inside) I must stress that I haven't tried this colour scheme myself, and it was just an idea that popped into my mind when reading your post, so be prepared for the more logical posts of others to show the errors in my thought

Peter
P.S. If you try this and it looks shocking - I will buy it back from you - so you can't loose!

SS 200's are delayed but we have superblades to keep the FP bunnies happy i guess. Hurry up HB FPv2

Hey again Kel,

Funny that you should mention Superblades - I am after both the EZ and XP models to fly on my Honeybee FPv2. Do you know a supplier closer to us than super-skids.com?

Peter
