good to hear from you again mate. I have 2 or 3 1200mha lipos and yes there a little better than the other ones but i would say double the time. After a few charges they seem to have lost a bit.

Overall i dont really get much more out of them and dont think i would go out of my way to get some.

The GE POWER lipos are by far the best i have ever used.

I am getting really frustrated with this hobby and im really close to given it up. Ive spent a S H I T load of money and had some fun but whats it gotten me, NOTHING.

B.

Hi Bradon,

Well the 1000 I'm using I think are an advantage for me because they cost about the same as the 900's I'm using. Why are you frustrated? I don't understand.

G.

Hi Everyone,
Do any of you prefer to fly your L4 with a 1000 mah lipo. ? Just curious about how you feel the added weight vs time and performance. The cost of the lipo doesn't matter. Also the ''c'' rating.
I just tried a few on my L4 and found it to be great. The extra weight was no real problem. I was surprised how much longer the 1000 mah 20c flew over my 900 mah 15c. It actually just about doubled the time. On my 900 packs I fly for 5 mins 30 seconds
(7.5 -7.6 mah). On the 1000 packs I get 9 minutes (7.5). I tested 4 different 1000 packs. Got the same results. I flew outside doing my usual manuvers. Also the batteries were barley warm and the motors (Xtreme) were cooler then ever.

Hey again G,

I re-found the 2 x 1200mAh lipos that I bought (and gave one to Brendon to try out) I hadn't dealt with Global-mart before - but it went smoothly within the usual delivery times from HongKong

Take care to factor in shipping costs (and exchange rates) with any ebay sales.......

Peter
P.S. I get around 11-12 minutes from these 1200mAh lipos. They are 15C.
P.P.S. GTX_slotcar warned us all a while back that the sellers can be ''liberal'' with their mAh and C-ratings due to a number of reasons, and it may not be intentionally misleading. Also the flighttimes that you get from a lipo may be diff'rent from what I get due to gear meshing / lubrication / lack or binding / motor strength / blades / type of flying etc.......

Hi Peter

I understand the variables in lipos , weight and so forth. I was just surprised the big difference in the pacs that I'm using on the same heli. This week end I will do the same comparison on each of my other two L4s. All three are different in motors and my own special mods

The 900 and 1000 pacs cost me about the same $6.50 - $7.50 shipped. Not bad

G.

Is there only one Big Lama helicopter or are there different versions of it? I notice there are two popular Lama threads here. Are there any other "outdoor" coaxial helicopters?

Hey Ray,

As far as I am aware there is only 1 Esky Big Lama (500-size) for "outdoor" use - available in FM and 2.4G!
The BOL has its own thread.. This thread is dedicated to the Esky Lama 4, which has an enclosed fuselage and is a 200-size bird - the next model up from the open fuselage Esky Lama 3 (which was an improvement on the Esky Lama 2 )

Peter
P.S. Pics below:
Esky Big Lama (only available in red, white & blue jetranger fuselage), Esky Lama 3 (only available in yellow), and Esky Lama 4 (available in blue or silver)

Hi All,

I shortend the length of my flybar weghits today by 12 mm each side.

The vibrations got a little worse.

Does this help to understand what might be wrong?

Thanks!

Ido

Hey again Ido,

Doesn't really help any - vibrations will get worse when flybar has less authority by moving in the weights - just move them back to their original positions again!

ARE YOUR BLADES DAMAGED?
ARE YOUR BLADES BALANCED? (showing one blade-plane when viewed from the side )
IS THE GYRO "GAIN" LOCKED TO MUCH?
IS THE OUTER SHAFT BENT?

When do you expect delivery of your new AFCSystems 180 motors?

Peter

Don't forget the Lama Hunter and KCB They are almost exactly the same. Just different landing gear and better battery tray.

Here are more big coaxial helis. There is a Walkera and an Art-Tech

Hey again Ray,

There are a few large coaxials available from different companies. Art Tech has a couple that I know of .

Peter
Opps, sorry - Wheelnut just posted that with a link..........

Hey Peter!

I'll wait for the motors and see what happens then. I guess they should arive in a week or so.

I'm looking at my next step in the hobby and saw this (a non coaxial mini heli):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f0VdjT9K60w

You got to see all the video its amazing what this little thing can do.

What do you say?

Furthermore, I took out of the radio the metal tooth holding the throttele stick. I find it to be a lot better and easy to set the speed you want.

Hey again Ido,

Wow! Yes, one of the guys at my heli-meet has one of those - they are brilliant!
Get one if you can.

Peter
P.S. It is good that you have removed rachet from Tx - it does give smoother throttle control. Try slipping on a piece of silicon "fuel tubing" (a short length is used to hold the fuselage on ) and replace it back again. This gets rid of the rachet action, while retaining a tighter touch - leaving it smooth and more precise! You may be able to buy a foot length at your local hobby shop.
P.P.S. Maybe you can read that language and translate for me? It is a Nine Eagles SOLO, but WHAT PRICE?

Thanks Peter,

The only thing that I dont like about the NE heli's is thr Tx. It looks cheap and like a toy. Ill have to overcome this since this is a nice heli.

Thanks for the tube tip!! Great one!

I didnt quite understand what you wanted me to translate??

Hey again Ido,

The only NE heli that I could find locally is this.It is obviously a diff'rent NE solo. I will have to ask Don where he bought his and how much $ in two weeks time when we meet again.........

Peter
P.S. I don't know if you can use the Hunter Tx with nine eagles helicopters - sorry! I would assume not - or someone would have posted their good experiences.....

Hey again Ido,

It's alright now. My mate here found one at his local hobby shop and bought it - I will see it and how it behaves at our next heli-meet. Who knows, I might even buy one for myself if it is really what I want!!
Thanks again.

My new msr is so fast but doesnt handle the wind well. Took them both out this morning. Was to much wind for my liking so I came home and went to the beach for a swim instead.

Hi All,

I was wondering. If you wanted a mini coaxial heli and had to choose between the Walkera lama 2 and the Nine Eagles solo what would it be?

Any of you have expirienced both and can write some input on which one acts and flys better?

Are there any diffrences in speed and forward flight?

Thanks!

Personally, I would go with the Walkera, it is a better known brand to me. I have never heard of the nine Eagles.

after getting the eflight MSR i would go with the MCX. You can really get those things to go seriously fast. If i could get a MCX cheap i would buy one tomorrow. Wouldnt try and fly them outdoors though. My MSR doesnt handle ANY wind at all.

Greetings All,

Are any of you familiar with Dynam Vortex Version I ? It seems Dynam may be a division of Esky or very simular. I was wondering if this Dynam 4 in 1 would work on the L4?

Any input? http://www.dynam-rc.com/products/esc/3in1controller.htm
