Joeyhatch11, I thought I remembered your handle from the Falcon 40 thread. The Walkera 4#3 is a FP. I haven't heard anything about it so I can't comment one way or the other. I don't know of a belt driven FP heli off the top of my head. I do know that there is a company selling a belt drive conversion kit for the Falcon, Honeybee FP, Walkera #4 etc. The kit goes for about $100. If your going to spend that much I would go straight to the HBK2.

The HBK2 is FP? Never mind just looked it up, it's CP. Isnt that going to be a pain in the a** to fly? Can't really beat the $129.00 price tag though right?

Joeyhatch11, I can't answer that question, I haven't flown a CP heli. I was just saying if you were going to spend $90 - $110 on a FP plus the belt drive tail conversion at $100 I would just go to the HBK2. As far as a CP goes, I know there is a ton more adjustments to make and when you crash it costs more to repair but I don't think it will be that much harder to fly than a FP. This is just my thinking though, remeber I haven't tried to fly a CP.

Joeyhatch11, I have a stock Falcon 40, a Falcon 40 that is modified with all separate components with a custom built frame and a Lama V4.

Joey, I guess most of your questions are already answered.
The Walkera 4#3 is about half the size of your Lama 3. It's cute, but I don't think it's a step in the right direction for you.
Of the FP helis, I usually recommend the HBFP. It has better electronics than the Walkera DF4 (which includes the Falcon 40, Venom NR2 and EF Sabre). Once you progress in helis, you'll probably still want to fly the FP and the HB will let you use a programmable radio. On the other models, you have to use the Tx that comes with them. Also, the 4in1 on the HB is easier to use (has real tail mixing and gyro gains), and is 100% 11.1v compatible (it's the same 4in1 used on their CP2 model).

There are 3 reasons to go with a FP heli (I guess they all center around frustration).
- They are much less complex than CP helis, so there's less to break. Repairs are so much cheaper that most people actually save money if they buy an FP first and a CP later. In other words, it pays for itself.
- They are easier to fly slow. They don't dart around the way the CPs do. They're harder to fly than a coaxial heli because a coaxial is the only heli that will just hover there in one spot without any stick input.
- You'll spend more time flying an FP than a CP at this stage of your learning process. CPs have a more complex setup and more parts to break, so they take longer to repair and adjust the setup after repairs. On common thing on a CP heli that you have to change often (because they bend so easy) is the Feathering shaft. It takes me about an hour to get the old shaft out, replace it with a new one, get the bearings packed in right and set the blade tracking properly. In that same amount of time, I can build a complete FP heli from spare parts.

About the HBK2, I have one and like it a lot. It's cool. If you have a small area to fly in, sometimes you need to stay with a 300 size heli and the HBK2 flies like a 450. But, if space isn't an issue, I'd certainly go with a 400/450 size like the Belt CP.

Finally recieved my v4 upgrade parts including alu swashplate and extended shaft(5mm version). Got the lama flying well enough after tweaking and adjusting,it hovers nearly perfectly(are we ever happy with how it hovers??? hehe). Got one problem. A colleague of mine has the twister coast guard and that heli still has the servo arms untouched thus still has the outer holes. Notice that it flies a lot faster than the lama and after having replaced the swash and shaft for alu ones would also want it to have faster 4ward motion. Suppose i need to get new servo arms for the esky stock servos.Am i right? Any idea/site where to get these?? Dont want to have to replace the servo as is still working fine. Thanks

Thanks GTX. I think my next move will be for the HBFP, cant wait. I ordered my new Xtreme tail this morning and had it rushed delivered. I hate not having something to toy with. My RS4 3 is broken (waiting on parts that should have been here today) and I'm also waiting on my Xtreme Blades. What a day huh? wait,wait,wait............

a good alternative is the hitec hs 55 servos they come with longer arms.
I did but I only moved them out about a centimeter from stock
and it did pick up more speed, now I think I should have gone a little farther. LOL
servos are only like 13 dollars a piece at HOBBYPEOPLE.
and so much better then the stock servos.

You think the servos are worth replacing even if the stock ones are fine? Is it that much better over stock?

Have you guys run into problems with the stabilizer bar dropping down and hitting the blades forcing the copter out of the air? Is this a balancing problem or a possible setup problem? 2 different bars have been used causing the same result. It flies fine for a while then out of the clear blue drops down and ground the chopper. Thanks for the help.

I think it's a set up issue. The only time mine does anything like that is when I'm flying outside and the wind gets a hold of it. But inside flight, never a problem.

yes just like any RTR heli, Car, servos are always the weak link and first things I replace.
I replaced mine after they burned out and stop working. and yes makes one heck of a difference
faster forward flying, and no stripped servo horns after any impact like the stockers.

Here's a new problem I have now. Just installed my new Xterme blades. The upper set, when flying, have a "gap" between them. Like there not tracking right. Also now when I make it move into a back ward tilt, the blades hit and the heli drops like a rock. How do I fix this?
