Status: offline 		Joey, with the new tail boom you could be tail heavy (center of gravity is off). Suspend the heli between two fingers by the fly bar so it hangs below your hand, if the boom doesn't hang level you need to move the battery forward to make it hang level. I'm not sure how to do this on the Lama. I haven't really dug into the mechanics of the Lama, my wife has a stock one that she flies and other than charging batteries for her I haven't really messed with it. It does sound like your CG is off with the new boom though. The swash plate could also need adjusting if it isn't level with the TX turned on, trims centered and battery plugged into the heli.

I have those upgrades also and maybe more and have no real problems with the boom and canopy. I can almost bet its your swash plate. The heli is definitely heavier but flys perfect I also think being a little heavier helps it a little more from getting blown around in light winds.

Status: online 		Well I took the linkage off that gives the heli forward/backward flight and turned it out a few turns and now everything seems fine. I have a little shake in the tail boom that I can't get rid of but I doubt that's ever going to be perfect. It says to turn the gain down to help get rid of that shake but my gain it all the way down. hahaha. I gotta tell you though, the new tail with the supports looks pretty good even on the stock landing gear. I dont know if I'm going to upgrade that just yet. Maybe after I destroy the stock ones. LOL

Hows everyone been out there in heli-land?

The left trimmer pot is for the gyro gain. The right pot is the motor mixer. It seems to operate in a counter intuitive nature in that a CW adjustment will spin your heli CCW. So, the easy way to remember it is that if your heli IS spinning CCW, turn the trimmer CCW to correct it.

Turn the left trimmer (pot) all the way down (CCW). This basically shuts off the gyro.
Center your rudder trim.
Fly the Lama for a couple minutes to let the motors (and 4in1) warm up.
If the heli is spinning CCW, turn the right trimmer (Proportional) CCW.
If the heli is spinning CW, turn the Proportional trimmer CW.
Keep doing this until the Lama stops spinning on its own, or get it as close as possible.
Once this adjustment is as good as you can get it, increase (CW) the gyro gain on the Gain trimmer. Small steps are best. This locks the gyro. but too much lock will cause the tail to shimmy back and forth as it "hunts" for center. It will also probably slow down the speed of the tail so you won't be able to spin it as fast.





Should the "proportional" setting be turned all the way off as well? My V4 seem to be in need of some adjustments and I wanted to start from a known point to begin the trimming......of course my newbie flyings skill my be part if the problem too..LOL

Status: online 		Want to hear something stupid? I took my heli to work yesterday to fly around on break but I never got the chance to. So it stayed in the car, inside the box the whole day. I guess because it got so hot in there that the blades warpped on me and now it flies like crap. Both sets of blades are not tracking right and the heli has a nasty wobble in the air. My luck right? So I went online last night and bought ANOTHER set or Xtreme blades along with a new gear and shaft set (B) and a new fly bar because that managed to get all bent to hell. Just when I thought all was good and I was done buying for this heli and I was getting ready to get a new FP this happens.

Status: online 		So I had my parts overnighted from HeliDirect. I gotta say they are kick ass over there. Turns out my blades were way out of wack and my fly bar was pretty beat up. After installing the new blades and fly bar all was perfect again. Well I hope everyone enjoys there 4th of July. 3 day weekend means lots of flying for me. Hope the weather holds up.

Status: offline 		Try dropping the warped blades into boiling water for a few seconds and seeing if it straightens them out. I'm curious if that is what the "boil the blades" trick fixes.

Status: online 		But I think even after you boil the blades you would have to wrap the boiled one aruond a new one to get the shape back. If not, wouldnt it be flat? Either case, I put the new blades on and she's better than ever. I flew 5 packs through it yesterday. I think on Friday I'm going to order another 2 batteries from Hong Kong.

I don't think so.... it just takes out the twist somehow. It looks like he boiled them for a minute. I've never had tweaked blades, so I've never tried it.

Status: offline 		Hi all, I'm a complete newbie to this and just received my lama today, but it doesn't hover without me pressing left on the throttle to try to trim it, this is after using the trim on the transmitter as well. I've been reading about the 4 in 1 should I reset it and start from scratch trimming it out?

Status: online 		I had the same problem when I got mine and I asked the same question. To fix this problem reset all the trims on the Transmitter to normal. Then turn your "GAIN" all the way to the left and then turn it to the right about 1/4 turn. For the Proportion gain turn that all the way to the left and then turn it out about 1/2 way. Start from there and if it still moves alittle to the left just make minor adjustments by turning the proportion gain the the left. If it moves to the right then adjust the Proportion gain to the right.

Which ever way the heli's tail is moving, is the same way you want to adjust the proportion gain on the heli. But remember to make only minor adjustments at a time. Also, once you make the adjustments remember to unplug the battery and plug it back in so it will re-calabrate. The GAIN controll on the 4-In-1 is to help with the tail shaking and the proportion gain helps with making the tail not move to the left or right. I hope this helps. It did for me and now my heli is rock solid. Happy flying. Joe

Status: online 		Well one of my motors finally took a crap on me today. Sucks too because I was having so much fun. I had it out front of the house and I was going nuts with it. One pack went dead so I ran in for another when I came back out and powered it up she fly for about 3 seconds then landed. All she does now is spin around. The front motor gets pretty hot while the back on is nice and cool. So I'm going to order new ones tomorrow and hope to get them Monday. How's everyone else doing with there Lama's?
