looking at mine its like 1/16 thick.
and yes you could do your own if you can get a rod piece that is nice and straight.
thats the thing there has to be straight. and you can notch where the screws grab
with a file or dremmel. I bent one of mine and I reshaped it by rolling it on the sink
and reshaping it by hand till it was straight again.
I just installed some extreme 180 motors on mine, and this thing is so fast
I have to fly it outside.

I did a test and took the turbo shaft off and put back the stocker.
and yes I can actually see the difference in how fast it reacts to inputs.
faster with the turbo then the stocker.

Take a look at the shafts available at either `rchelicoptershop` or `rc711`. Both lama shafts found in these sites are 2cm longer than stock as opposed to the 5mm of the original one. Have also seen some youtube clips of shafts 4 the lama measuring even longer,up to 4 whole cm longer. Trouble is that no-one seems to know about where to get them. The one in the sites above will be enough though,i`ll be getting one myself. Shaft only as i already have the upper central hub that came with the Xtreme shaft.

Finally recieved the xtreme tail boom for my v4 and that works and looks awesome,no problems there. Also got the xtreme canopy and even before painting it i`ve noticed that it wont fit the lama v4 very well. The servo rods leading up to the swashplate touch the canopy as it closes in at the back. What have you guys done about this???
By the way, anyone not happy with their v4 tail, get the xtreme one.Its both easy to place with no mods whatsoever and also makes the v4 look the business.

I made a new shaft. It's about 1/2inch longer than the Xtreme one. After installing it, it doesnt seem to be much faster. But the baldes dont hit at all now. I also got my Xtreme Short Fly-bar today. I HATE IT. I get huge TBE from it. I just switched back to the stock one I cut down a bit and the TBE went away.

Check that the weights on either side are totally balanced and that the flybar is straight. Then go down and check that the rods connecting the upper rotor head to the flybar are properly adjusted. This last point is extremely important.I found that by just having these rods a millimetre off it will make all the difference. A bent shaft is also a very obvious cause for tbe.The flybar itself shouldnt the prob unless its not adjusted.
I have the xtreme flybar myself and dont have any problems with it,the heli is less(no tbe though) stable but thats what the shorter length does. Remember, less stable=more responsive, sharper flying.I would recommend getting very used to your stock v4 before you start upgrading some parts especially the ones that have an effect on how the heli behaves. Its very easy getting more and more upgrades and then find yourself with a problem you cannot pin point.Go slow,i didnt and ended up having some HUGE crashes. Pity i didnt have a camcorder as they would have made very good viewing in youtube.

The same weights I use on my stock/modified fly-bar, I use on the Xtreme Short fly-bar. But I get nasty TBE. I added two wheel locks, one for each side, and it seemed to calm it down a bit but was still there. So I went back to the stock one and it went away. But let me tell you this. I was out back flying and noticed that it was reacting alittle funny, so I brought it in. Turns out the screws on the bottom half of the outter shaft came loose and the swash plate and everything moved up. I turned everything on and pushed it back down till the swash plate was leveled. I think it's where it should be but could still be a little off. That may be why I had some of that TBE.

I'll play around with it later and let you guys know what I find and how I made out. But thanks for the reply. It helped.

Alright so I plugged a battery in and waited for everything to set-up. Once done I noticed that the swash plate wasn't quite level. So I loosened up the screws and moved the shaft down a bit till it was. Tightened everything up and re-adjusted my trims. My Lama is now a perfect hovering beauty. Still haven't tried putting the Xtreme Short fly-bar back on yet. But I like the way it is now and will probably leave it like that for a bit.

Hey guys. Need help with a slight prob.Have moved up to the 3rd hole in my servo horn and getting some nice 4ward flight, happy with that. The prob is that, when i push max 4ward i have noticed the alu swashplate is making contact with B shaft which means its slowing down movement of the lower rotor(this in turn makes 4ward flight slower). Have installed the xtreme cx2 tail boom and this makes the heli heavier on the back so i`ve had to compensate by adjusting the servo rods.On the neutral position the swashplate is slightly 4ward to cancel the back being heavier but this means that it has less travel and makes contact with B shaft earlier when i push 4ward.Its all a big worry as i was planning on moving to the outer 4th and 5th hole when i get my turbo shaft.
HELP PLEASE

At some point no matter what the upgrades and cash you throw at a coaxial it will NOT fly any faster in FF. By design these helis are made for stable slow FF and no amount of tweaking and fiddling is going to get you any closer. Moving the servo links out on the horns is a sound idea in theory but the problem is exactly what you have run into. Too much travel causes the swash to hit and actually impedes your helis preformance. The 3rd hole is probably it for moving the links out. There is only so much travel one can get out of the swash before it binds.
As to your CG issue, how much of the Xtreme tail mod are you using? Alot of what is on there is just simply dead weight and does nothing but look purty and help your heli fly backwards. Lose as much weight off the tail as possible and limit your throws to where the swash just clears the lower "B" shaft and realize thats as far as you can take that part of it. Get rid of the dead weight and get the swash back to as level as possible. At some point you have to accept the fact that coaxials can onbly be tweaked so far before before they start actually making you lose preformance.

Is the only difference between the V3 and V4 the body style?

Thanks and you are correct according to Hobby Lobby the only difference is the body style. A couple other questions as I am thinking about ordering a V3 no later then Monday night. How long does it take to charge the factory battery with the factory charger and how long is the fly time? All so other then the blades what spare parts if any should I order?
Thanks

46u, it takes about 1 1/2 hours to charge the stock batteries with the stock charger. As far as spare parts, I have had my V4 for about 2 months and the only thing I have broken is a set of blades.
