Status: offline 		A thread was on the Futaba support forum about issues many are having with Hitec servo compatibility with the FAAST system. All of those posts were deleted today. Fine, their forum, their rules, but it's an important subject so I thought I would post it again here.

To start it off, below is one of my deleted posts:

The fix for this is to use a Powerbox, Smart-Fly or what-have-you. I bought this system to avoid having to do that... and now it appears that in order to use this system I MUST use these other products. Sure I could just use Futaba products, but what do I do with the thousands of dollars of Hitec servos that I have??? Guess I shouldn't have bought them.

Anyway, the 608FS appears to work, but I don't really trust it and will likely use two of those along with a PowerBox to solve some of my problems... that way I know that voltage will remain at acceptable levels, the 6014FS is certainly not reliable how I want to use it, unless I put a Powerbox or Smart-fly board in the picture.

Though this shouldn't be posted in Futaba's forum, it will likely be deleted.

Status: offline 		Only an issue with the 6014fs and te 5955TG so far as I know... a lot of IMAC/Giant scale 3d guys use this combo, or better said, might use it when they convert over to 2.4... I tried it and it ABSOLUTELY does not work without the use of a powerbox, smartfly expander, or $1000 in new FUTABA servos... Futaba has said that they will not be held responsible for the compatibility of other manufacturers products... okay, fine, put that on the box or the online ad, and we won't have a problem. Say that in a thread after I plunked down $4k for radios and another K or so on Rxs... then I REALLY have a problem... and I do.

Status: offline 		There has been a few problems with 5955's and the R6014FS recevier. The Recevier's signal output voltage is 2.7. volts. This is below the current Hitec voltage of 3.3 volts.

The strange problem happens with some but not all HiTec ( maybe others as well) servos. I have about 15 5955's in a couple different planes. I also have the R6014FS recevier in one plane that has the 5955's hooked stright into the recevier and so far no problems. This maybe due ( My own ideas) the fact that I am only running 6 servos in this plane. So I think the signal voltage is not dropping below 2.7 due to the mild load on the servos.
Now I do Have a plane with a PowerBox 40/16 Evolution in it. I sent this PowerBox back to Germany to have it updated top work with the F6014FS recevier. This set-up gives me a better feeling of safety when flying my 30% planes and is the recommended way of useing the R6014FS recevier with non Futaba servos. However. you must make sure the PowerBox is set up for the new standard. If it has a yellow dot on the back then you are O.K. if not then check with the manaufacture before useing to see if it will work.
PowerBox will update any PowerBox at no cost (other than shipping to them)and send it back to you and they pay the return postage........ time frame is about 3 weeks........ it takes about 10 days to snail mail the unit to them.

Just remember. if the servos seem to work "on the bench" they may fail in the air where there is more of a load on them..maybe not???????? To be safe, use only Futuba servos or get a power managment system of some sort. PowerBox, SmartFly or any of the other ones out there..

Status: offline 		A 10C FASST radio was bought Saturday for use in a 42% plane. I have read a lot about the 2.7 volt signal output problem. All 10 servos that were bought were a combination of Futaba digital servos. In addition I am using a Smart Fly Power Expander because of the potential high current drain. A relatively inexpensive solution to insure a solid link to the servos of a different brand than Futaba might be to use this power expander. Each output from the power expander to a servo is electronically buffered.

I can't explain why Futaba did this with the 6014 receiver. I understand the 608 receiver has are full 3.3 volt signal output.
