IT IS HIS TO DO AS HE WANTS, HELL HE CAN STOMP IT ,IF HE WANTS TO.
BUT, YES A BANDIT ARF SEEMS TO BE ALL THEY WILL END UP WITH AND THE BANDIT WILL FLY BETTER , WITH LESS WING LOADING.
YOU CAN TELL HE LOVES TO TINKER AND THAT IS WHAT MAKES FOR NEW INOVATIONS AND OBVIOUSLY HE DOES A GREAT JOB.
GIVE CREDIT WHERE CREDIT IS DUE.

SORRY FOR THE CAPS , JUST NOTICED.

Batteries are heavy the 10S 6400 packs weighs 72 oz that''s 4.5 lbs of weight.
I think a well done 54 class turbine conversion will weigh less especially at the critical time............. landing

I agree...
This plane done with P-60 is still lighter than E-power.
But for me had both going. If I like doing turbine. I just put in the turbine. If I don''t like get my hand smell like kero. Drop in the electric power plant.
The nice things about this is the size.
I hate the way it mount the wing. Take too long gettting assemble at the field. I saw friend spend extra 45min to assemble and take apart the wing with his bandit.
I refer had it one piece throw in the back of my truck. You can''t do with the bandit.

I don''t understand why someone would take a kit that is made for electric power (extra light) giving up strength to make it as light as possible to perform well with less thrust and put a turbine in it when a air frame that looks very similar is made just for that purpose, was it designed to take the additional stress that come along with the added weight of a turbine and fuel system.

Simple i like light models , but not to big
the electra (mini bandit) is perfect
it will do just fine , it was constructed like the bandit

i use bandit servo,s and changed the lg (not more weight)
i am sure it will perform fine

and finnaly i own a van and i do not need to take the electra apart when i want to fly...

I see u got the fin on can I see the method it is held on with

well it is hold by a 4mm bearer that comes out of the fuselage.
the bearer is on the inside all the way round
the bearer is then somehow strenghtened with a thin epoxy layer.
and finally fin is glued on the fuselage.

tam with this open construction the wing is simple to take out
i also did NOT cut the bottom hatch , i can undo them from above.
this means also the costruction is better and rigid.
and i dint like it on the old bandit arf eather , toulk me 30 minutes to put on thw wigns and close the hatch
and i agree it is very light , i left a lot of stuff out , and changed them for other things.
i have now 2 x 8411 on the elevators (overkill but safe)
i used a hitec compatible 81 on the rudder
2 x jr8311 on the flaps
and 2 x jr3401 on the ailerons.
i use a emcotec BIC of the powersystem.
and will use the lightest thrustpipe there is that will be a Wren pipe made for the SS.
i will use 2 x 1800 mah for the rx (gives me more then 2 hours flighttime)
and a 20C 2200 for the turbine (gives me about 6 starts)

It will be interesting to see what the turbine conversion weighs. My Electra weighed 14 pounds ready to fly with batteries. As I mentioned before in other threads, I did not use the heavy EVF system. I used an Aeronaut TF4000 fan made of carbon fiber that weighs 4 ozs. The motor and controller weigh 26 ozs and the 12S batteries I used weigh 48 ozs. That's 78 ozs total for the complete power setup, just 6 ozs more than the weight of the BVM recommended batteries. On Sept 23, 2007 my Electra hit 200mph with this setup, months before BVM made a claim of approaching 200 mph with his second generation of the EVF (at this time the BVM demo Electra was hitting a max of 175 mph out of a steep dive). Here's a date stamped video showing the high speed pass of the Electra.

If the conversion weighs in the 14 - 15 pound range, it should be a rocket.

By the way Sandor, it's nice to see proper retracts on such a nice model

Kirk

Kirk you by far built the best electra I've ever seen
evertime I see it I'm in love.. after my Tam A-4
I'm going to build the electra from a kit and do it up warbird style like yours..
I sent you a pm but I don't think you got it...
were you happy with the TF 4000 in yours? it looks like a simple install in the electra.. I really like the ds 94 fan and would love to try a stumax...
what are your thoughts? stick with the TF 4000 on 1527 12s?

by the way I have not built a kit in years but your electra has inspired me over the last few months.. so I'm going to do it
Ron

Ron,
Are you go to get Stumax fan?
I love to see that fan in action bigger plane.
Everyone been saying how quiet it is. But I haven't even see any video with good speed pass with that fan.
The only two video I see was not that fast all.
