question. i have a TP 3 cell 2070mah Lipo and i am flying with a Frio 10 brushless motor. i usually charge my battery to about 12.2 volts and go fly. well, after about 5 minutes i land my plane and check the voltage and it reads about 11.3 or around there and when i check the voltage under load and full throttle the motor it drops down to about 10 volts. i understand that the voltage is saposed to decline.....but is it saposed to decline from 12.2 volots to 10 in just 5 minutes. i mean i get really short flights. the reason i went Lipo was to lengthen my flight time.

Lipo cells can be charged to 4.2 volts per cell. In other words, your three cell lipo can be charged to 12.6 volts. They can also be discharged to 3 volts per cell under load. Most ESCs have a low voltage cutoff that can be set for 3 volts per cell. You should time your flights as well. A low voltage cutoff is a good backup in case you accidentally use a partially discharged battery. If you follow these guidelines you should lengthen your flights considerably. There is a lot of good info on using lipos in this forum that you might want to look over as well.

Presto
