Do electric motors still need to be suppressed with resistors etc when using FASST technology radio gear?

Even if the motors were no longer able to render interference to the FASST radio gear (due to the frequency band etc) would they cause enough interference to affect the DMD and thus still need to be suppressed?

It would be great if the suppressors were able to be taken off as the motors would run more efficiently for great battery life and overall performance.

Has anyone done this and found out?

Would love to know.

Cheers

Alan

I dont know much about electrics. I just setup my first esc and brushed motor with my fast system. I laid the rx antenna across the battery and motor wires and gave it full throttle and i could not make it interfere with the radio.

Sounds promising. With a brushless motor there is no spark at all and so even less chance of interference. Brushless motors may not even have suppressors fitted to them. I have never had one so do not know.

I wonder how an older style electric motor would go without suppression with the Futaba FASST radio.

If anyone knows please write in.

Will do an experiment of my own soon and report back. In a car or tank not a plane!

Cheers

Alan.

Gosh darn.....I can't remember where the frequency of these things drops off, but the fact is that at 2.4Ghz, you are so far away from the frequencies of metal-to-metal noise that one should expect NOT to have a problem.

Yes I have a feeling this should be the case in theory but do not really understand or trust myself with the science behind it.

There must be a modeller out there who also happens to be a scientist or electronics specialist and can say if they are needed or not.

Cheers

I have been running my Tamiya Panther for a week now with unsuppressed motors with no sign of interference so far.

Cheers
