well i wouldn't count on the speed being correct from a radar gun on the water. they aren't accuret. it bounces of the water, so you mite be going faster. only accurate way is with a gps.

birdy233, I assume that is your boat on ebay?? was there something wrong with the boat or just not what you were looking for? I am still looking at getting one of these once the bugs get ironed out.

Nope, no problems, I have three gas boats and would love to keep it, but my car needs new tires...bad. After my wife gave me the...why did you spend all that money on the boat when you needed tires, dipping into the savings wasn't going to happen..

I really wish I could start posting good things about running this boat, but I'm having more problems. My replacement exhaust broke...again. Same place as before, the exit pipe. I know now its not a poor quality muffler, but a poor fit inside the watercooled header mount. All 4 bolts clamping the header in place are all the way tight, but I'm able to still twist header...with 2 fingers. After a few minutes of running, the header swings forward, making the entire exhauat out of allignment and placing too much stress on the exit pipe. I don't know if its a crappy o-ring in the watercooled clamp, or just a crappy header clamp all together. At first I didn't have to torque these 4 bolts all the way down, just enough to where i knew it was tight, but after running it more, the header would keep twisting forward. So I cranked them down...it still happened. I can MAYBE get a 5 minute run before the header comes out of the muffler coupler completely. I just emailed Venom, and hopefully they can get me something to fix these problems. I've asked for a replacement o-ring and a reasonable discount on the tuned pipe they offer. I'm will to pay something for the upgrade, but this isn't something I should have to do...asking for discount on a pipe that wont break so i don't have to mess with some chinese POC again. Hopefully, we can both take a small hit to fix this problem. By asking for a discount, I feel I share some responsibility with the problems I've been having...although I'm not sure what I did wrong here. Just trying to be fair, as I know nothing in life is free.

Actually I emailed Dave O. I talked with him today, and it's all squared away. Tell him thanks. He's been a big help...you too Chris! I guess you guys are out of the tuned pipes, so another stock one is on its way. It should get me through this season. I'm gonna be using small metal radiator clamps this time around since I cant seem to get the zip ties tight enough to prevent everything from moving around. Hopefully it's all here by friday. Dave mentioned in his voicemail to me that he was on the hunt for another green o-ring.

Ok cool, well we will have this sorted out very soon. Its been a surprise to see the weld break but considering the thin sheet they are working with I guess its bound to happen, not to say thats acceptable but realistic. Anyhow thanks for your patience and have a blast!

so had another little crash this morning, see pics, I'm really starting to doubt the integrity of these hulls, The part that I used 5min epoxy on stayed together fine, but the untouched part of the hull split like a banana, Gonna tear down the boat and re-inforce now, I wish this would be something venom would take a look at, not so much for me, but in manufacturing terms, the hull join on these boats is S**T I will post pics soon when I get everything done, the boat is going to be custom painted and refinished.

XXX,
Ouch! Just remember, 5 minute epoxy is NOT waterproof. Use 30 minute epoxy for waterproof bonds.
I agree, the hull work could have been better. I reinforced mine with f/g cloth and epoxy resin. I also installed birch plywood in the transom for the rudder. Made it slightly heavier but the seam should hold ok now.

boat went upside down from a roller at about 45mph, and plowed into the water, it did not hit bottom, just water, that is why I'm led to believe that the join is very poor on these boats, especially on the front sponsons.
