Thanks.

Last question - Will this pipe work ?   http://www.rocketcityracing.com/product_details.php?category_id=150&item_id=1451
If so, I want to order it when I get the rudder.

After doing some reading, I've decided to give it a go using a gelcoat rather than painting.

I just ordered a 1kg tub off this website - http://www.cfsnet.co.uk/acatalog/CFS_Catalogue__White_Topcoat_154.html

Is that the correct stuff, will that do the job ok?

Its a little known fact that Thin CA, and especially ours because its industrial strength, will repair the Polyester hull crack very well. I split the back half of the KOS hull in a boat on boat crash a couple months ago. The split was clean so I used our Thin CA and pressed the hull back together and let it cure for a couple hours only. We took the boat out for some testing and fun running. Then we had the bright idea to let someone else drive the boat. He ran the boat into the fountain in the center of the lake! The boat flipped over the fountain and landed upright. We recovered the boat and inspected it. The CA repaired seem held! I didnt add any cloth or any extra materials just the CA bond. There was no damage to the hull and just a bent rudder leading edge. We cleared out the motor checked the radio and launched it again, that simple.
The crack is visible but a few minutes of body work and blending and a shot of paint and it wont be seen at all.
Thin CA on Polyester is a very strong bond and I have broken everything around a glue joint like that in the past. Give it a try sometime.

Chris

just for your information Steve, i also ordered the DPU rudder from Rocket City Racing... it was shipped without the 2 barbed water fittings that go on the top of it.... had to order them real fast so i went with Bonzi... .95c each..

Thanks for the reply Venomous.

But did you not protect the crack with anything to stop water from getting into the fibreglass?

I would like to do a full repair if possible but unfortunately after emailing Venom custom support it appears they don't have any of the logo files at all so I can't get another Powered by Lamborghini sticker made up. Although I had a go at doing the logo myself as best I could, see below and let me know what you think:

I may just have to get 2 of these cut out from vinyl and then apply them to both sides so that they both look the same.

Does the KOS hull have auto bailers?  If not, is it reccommended and if so what brand?

Thanks,
Steve

PS - I remember reading that someone added extra water outlets, any pics?

No it doesn't come with auto bailers. I added 2 to mine and got them from Bonzi sports. I like them since my boat is in rough chop and tends to catch alot of water. Yes I added extra water outlets look at the scale exhust in pic.

Auto bailers are great, but I wouldnt recommend them on this boat, because if you go upside down, it gives the air inside the boat somewhere to escape other than the flex shaft output, and the boat will sink faster. If all you have for air intake on the boat is the hatch, then auto bailers would not make sense, because you would not get very much water in the boat. Thats just my 2c, I run bailers on my hydro though, that thing takes on water like crazy, and the auto bailers are useful, but that boat doesnt flip as easy as the cat.

3-XXX is right I run mine and even if it stops no water comes in if theres some just a
little bit not enough to even notice some times up to 5min waiting for the other boats to come
in when we race so no need for them auto baillers.

So I got it all up and running today.

I received my Voodoo 67x17x3 today and had the KWA in already. I am not using a tuned pipe because I run in a choppy bay so I am using a Warehouse Hobbies Can to keep the exhaust out of the water (it seems that water in the pipe at the level of the hull shuts my motor down after a while but not now that my exhaust heads out of the water).

Anyway, this thing was unbelievable. There were probably 1 foot swells and I would gun it and it would just jump out of the water. Really fun. I'm just a sport boater so I'm not looking to run this thing smooth and fast. Just looking for fun.

Also, one question, I think I'm having trouble with a 2.4 system. I installed the spectrum Dx3r and receiver. At about 300 or so feet away, I'm pretty sure I loose signal because my fail safe kicks in. I thought I read that you can have problems with 2.4 systems on water instead of land. Anybody experience this. Anyway, I put back the stock radio from my KOS to try to avoid this and I'll get her out tomorrow. Any advice or info on the radio appreciated before I change back the radio on another boat to a non 2.4 system.

The best radio equipment period. I have never had a glitch or failsafe or any problems like that, The frickin reciever works under water(would not try this at home, but it does)

Loudog, no, venom has not come out with it, and I would not expect them to. Head on over to aeromarinerc.com, they can get you handled, thats the hardware I run on my boat.

I was looking on ebay and was wondering if this engine would work as a direct replacement for the standard one:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SIKK-27CC-5HP-RC-BOAT-ENGINE-RC-BOAT-PETROL-GAS_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ65Q3a12Q7c66Q3a2Q7c39Q3a1Q7c72Q3a1683Q7c293Q3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZitem43992d80b6QQitemZ290332704950QQptZUKQ5fToysGamesQ5fRadioControlledQ5fJNQQsalenotsupported

Would the mountings on it fit fine or would I need a new mounting bracket?

Am I right in thinking that if I put this engine in with a 67/17/3 prop I'd be looking at getting 60+mph out of the boat?

Cheers in advance.

yes, that will be a direct replacement, speeds should be 50-55 mph, you will need a 67x19 to push past 60mph

The Fasst works under water. I tried it at home. There is a secret though.

So I looked at a bunch of forums on here. Looks like a lot of people have had trouble with the Spectrum 2.4 system in boats. It seems to work for some people and not for others. Mostly the range is very short (about 100 yards) which is what I found and then my fail safe kicked in. Too bad because I bought the DX3r because I wanted a nice solid link to the boat given the size and speed it was capable of. Clearly I made a mistake. I have some 72mhz systems that came stock in some other boats so I'll just install one of them for now.
