ORIGINAL: CustomTamiyas4Life ttoks, polaris also makes a solid axle with the 525 engine now. I have ridden a stock z400, and a z with filter, jet kit, fmf powerbomb with Q2, and nerfs, tires, etc, and I ride a 400ex. Honestly, all three are descent in the power department. The modded z pulls a little harder of course, but unless you're on a track with long straight, the difference isn't enough to win the race. From my experiences all three machines are reliable as far as trail riding. They both can by upgraded to the mood, but the z400 would be better if you plan to bore it and run a high compression piston seeing it is liquid cooled. I still say Suzuki is/was a little junky. My uncles LTZ was braking rather often. We don't have that problem anymore because the only thing still stock is the key, but maybe newer models are better performing? I love my tricked out 400EX, but there are times when I crave more power.
