I know you guys have never done this, but I had a bit of a hard landing and the header was ripped off the head of a Saito 91. Now I dont have enough metal to install a helicoil, without building up the side wall of the exhaust port. Can I mig weld this aluminum and build up the wall without warping the cylinder? I am afraid it may get to hot. I then would tap it out back to original size. Tried JB Weld and other products. Doesnt last very long.

buy a new cylinder. Or take it to someone that is very good at repairing aluminum.

I have had a friend weld up a striped OS head, and it ran fine.

Well a head for a OS can be removed and repaired, without concern for the cylinder, a Saito head is part of the Cylinder wall as one piece. Many can weld aluminum, but no one around here will garentee it wont warp the head. This component is pricey. I would hope it could be welded. Perhaps heating the engine first before welding would help.

Have you checked on the price of a new one? even if you had it welded and it didnt work you would need a new one anyway right? But yes, the OS head came off. I think if the person was good enough it could be done, but, you would probably pay them more in time to do it than a new cyl. costs.
