Status: offline 		I gotta go with the 4*60. I''m on my third. I also have Kaos 40 that I built a turtle deck on and guess what??? I''ts an Ultrasport. Flies great. To me sport flying is relaxing with easy landings. Any of the above listed planes that don''t meet my criteria don''t, well, meet my criteria. Stryker, gremlinno way. Don''t even have LG. I like the Tiger. Don''t know about the Pulse. What about the Advance 40? We have a couple at the field and they fly nicely. We gave away a Dragon Lady last year and have a couple at the field as well. Better than the 4*? I guess that''s a matter of opinion. The Bruce Tharpe Venture 60, now discontinued, is reputed to have all the best qualities of the 4* plus a few added later by Bruce. After all he desinged the original 4*. That my story and......

Status: offline 		I've never flown an Ultra Sport, and I'm definitely interested in getting one in the future. They look great and fly great in G3. Anywho, I've flown Pulses, Sticks, Tigers, 4*Stars and a couple more sport type planes. The best two, far and away, have been the Stick and the Pulse. The Ultra Stick is just great fun to fly, and the Pulse is more of a precision-sport plane. If I had my choice between the two, I have no idea which plane I'd get...but they're both awesome.

Status: offline 		somehow my post didn't show up here. i was gushing about my ultrasport 60 purchase and it didn't make it. well anyway, i recently acquired an US 60 with retracts and an OS .61 RF (rear exhaust). it flies very fast, requires no input upright or inverted. the same with the landings and takeoffs. it just simply waits for a command. very long smooth takeoffs. great sportplane.

Status: offline 		I really enjoy my Great Planes Super Sportster. My Twist seems to be as much of a Sport Flyer as it is 3D'r, although it is not your traditional sport plane to be sure.

Status: offline 		Falcon 56. Although many will say its not a Sport plane. But When I built mine I made some mods like little Dihedral, Lowered the wing saddle about 3/4 inch, wing mount bolts, more area on the rudder and elevator, Max deflection, and a OS .40. Balance is set reward.
I let a few guys fly it, that are into 3D .60 profile planes, [ better fliers the me ] They really were impressed and could not believe it was a falcon. If you set up any plane right, or whats right for you, you will get the max performance and will say Mine is the best.
Trust me when I say you can tweek a super sportster or a ultra sport, and many others, the wrong way and you will have a crappy plane.
or build it light and right and tweek for max performance and that is what you will have.

Status: offline 		My vote is first the Ultra Sport 40, and second the Sig Kougar.

I built my first Kougar in the early 80's. Flew 2 years and crashed it. Then built a second one which I flew until I built the Ultra Sport in 1990. It was just a couple of weeks ago I took the engine and radio out of the Ultra Sport - never a crash in 17 years of flying it. But age caught up with it. It was painted with Formula U and by now there were hireline cracks all over and the paint had bubbled were the exhaust hit. Also hanger rash had built up<G>.

I have now ordered the Pulse XT 60 based on comments here on RU, studing the manual, and seeing the ad for it in the mags. I may also try to rehab the second Kougar which I still have.

Status: offline 		Hmmmm... Sport plane to me means able to be utilized in a vast number of arenas or posessing qualities observed over several classes of aircraft. Having said that I will differ to my first kit after my trainer - an Easy Sport 40. Absolutely fantastic characteristics. I'm suprised I haven't seen it mentioned yet... that I can recall.
Another excellent 'sport utility' plane was Hangar 9's Advance 40. Now that plane could take some serious abuse and knife-edge at the same time. Flat spin easily and land like a feather.

Sticking with what has been mentioned so far, I'd say the Kaos is probably the most widely recognized sport-type plane.

Status: offline 		Jazzy, I wholeheartedly agree that the GP Easy Sport is a fantastic airplane. I have two,one of which is an incarnation of two before it. Done as a tail dragger and equipped with a bomb (coke bottle) drop and done in a Navy scheme. Powered since day one, 3-15-00 with an MVVS 40 with "tuned silencer", I have just finished an engine swap for an OS 55 AX. As soon as the rain stops long enough for the field to dry I'll give it a go. The other is also a tail dragger, but I built it as a low wing by inverting the fuse and cutting in a new wing saddle and a new slot for the hstab. The gear is mounted in the wing ala the Super Sportster only much stronger. This one is powered by a ST 61. Both are exceptionally well manered and great flying planes, you can land them ssllooww or hot wheels.
150flyer mentioned the Super SkyboltI'm on my 2nd and they too are great flying planes.
The Ultra Sports and the like are also terrific planes and you guys who fly them obviously like a lot more speednothing wrong with that, I'm 72 years young and prefer my speed from my Spitfire.
One could discuss "sport planes" till the cows come home and not get full agreement on which is the best one. I better shut up! I vote for the Easy Sports! Gustof
