I just talked with the Cermark rep. at the Toledo RC Show. He says Cermark has purchased DPM and has plans to get his standard and clipped wing Super Cubs back into production. BTW, both models were on display at his booth today. He further said that Dave Patrick will continue to be involved with these airplanes, although his new role was unclear. He told me that Dave had trouble with the Chinese firm producing his airplanes - they were so good that many other, better connected and better financed companies wanted their services and DPM fell to a low priority on their schedule. In short, they couldn't keep up with demand. This situation will be resolved with Cermark in charge, since they are a much larger company with lots of connections and business experience in China. Tomorrow, I am going to put the clipped wing cub on order if I can.

I didn't ask. But I will be back today to get my order in, and I'll let you know how it goes.

According to my spies, DP himself is all but history with DP Models, as Cermark is the owner of the company and in charge.

My intelligence sources also tell me that DP will be doing some design work for them.

You didn't hear it form me.

OK, more from the DPM booth at the Toledo Show: They are not taking orders yet, but expect the stock to be full in July - Aug '08 time frame and will take orders then. They will NOT take orders until they actually have the airplanes on hand so they can turn this whole bad business sense thing around. Although Cermark is now in charge of production and warehousing, Dave Patrick's name is still on the package and he will continue to run his site as before, so that's where you order once the green light is given. This time, however, the airplanes will actually be in stock in California - not still growing on a tree in China somewhere. DPM is working on updating their site to get this information out. (Where have we heard this one before? s/o) Anyway, that's the story. I did ask about the Ultimate. They said it is next in line to be produced, but right now the Cubs have priority.

Placing an order on the DPM web site will be hard for me to do, considering the past.

I wondered why that booth was at Toledo today. Saw the planes; rep. must have been away. That is good news.

Whoa....! Never thought I'd see this happen. I still think Dave Patrick himself owed (owes) his devoted fans from over the years an explaination if not an apology for cutting them off, continuing to take orders on his website, and leaving them hanging. It's created a bad blood. However, I wish Cermark the very best in turning this around and bringing these fine planes back into production.

Wow, this is good news, but I don't like the part about having to deal with DP. He is a great designer, but a rotten business person.
Sure wish I could see the show at Toledo again. What a candy store that is!!

So since Cermark has purchased DPM, does this mean they've inherited DPM's debts? I hope so as I've been awaiting parts for a damaged purchased Clipped wing for nearly 2 years now!!!

Pretty dumb to leave Patricks name on these and use his website that nobody trusts. Do they want to fail?! They should move it all to their website and keep him behind the scenes.
