nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/14/2008 11:17:20 PM)

haha, you did the same thing I did, dry fit it first, I too was amazed how quick it went together, I''d never built one before and it only took me 2hrs (hope thats a good time, I think it was), mines sitting next to me now, arghh I want more money to finish this awesome heli [:D], there wasn''t a whole lot to loctite but I found other things that could use some as well. I put the tail servo on but have been fighting with the linkage rod to get it short enough, very tough to turn the link ends, even with pliers its a P-I-A [:D]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/15/2008 9:30:11 PM)

I cheated sniped of a little less than a 1/4 inch the rod is too long to allow for adjustment (sliding the servo back and forth to get the tail set) up in rate mode. Then I placed the rod in a vise got the one link on. Treaded the rod though the guides and did the same thing on the other end. Worked pretty slick. waiting on the servos and flight pac. Hoping to make a bunch of progress but Thursday. Have you notice how tight the ball links are. The big one on the flybar cage is the worst. I tried polishing the ball Squeezing the link trick nothing seems to work. They don''t even make a resizer that big. I figure something out. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/15/2008 9:33:44 PM)

well, looks like I''m gonna be cutting my rod down a bit too, thanks. I''m really hoping the links losen up after a few spinups, never thought to ask any of the other guys who had the same prob how it worked out in the end, I''ll have to ask them

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/15/2008 9:45:57 PM)

There was some info on that in this forum. I din''t earmark the page. Its a rather lengthy build forum but they deal with all this issues.
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=714124

I found some really goo stuff as far as set up. Most the guys who post there are and have been flying the E Smart for some time and are glad to help. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/15/2008 10:23:28 PM)

lol, towards the end you''ll see some of my posts asking questions, but it grows by at least a page a day

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/16/2008 9:46:38 PM)

well, they say the E-Smart won't care if the links are tight and they will loosen up, but not for many flights, so I'm just gonna lube 'em a little. Just got my DX6i in the mail, free shipping 2 day from HeliDirect, w00t [:D] Awesome Transmitter, VERY big manual, but looks well explained [:D]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/16/2008 10:09:44 PM)

Which receiver did you get?

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/16/2008 10:10:56 PM)

AR6200

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/16/2008 10:27:59 PM)

I have a 7000 here in one of my planes I just might rob it then order a 6200 or another 7000. Fed Ex is showing "out for delivery" on the majority of my things to get finished. My servos should be here early next week. Its the windy season here so flying fixed wings is out of the question for another month or two. I have a friend with a large warehouse that we fly helicopters in so I'll be able to tweak the ESmart over there. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/16/2008 11:07:10 PM)

I still have to buy a charger, batteries and gyro, oh some tools too and then I'll be able to finish mine, can't wait, tell me how you like yours when you get it done

cactus hopper -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/17/2008 1:03:20 AM)

I don't have an E smart yet but I got an Esky 1200kv motor today. I'm going to put it in one of my Hurricanes until I do.

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/17/2008 1:43:41 AM)

I have to ask. What was wrong with the stock one?

cactus hopper -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/17/2008 2:00:02 AM)

The stock Hurricane motor you mean. Nothing really, it's just 800 and some kv though, a little underpowered.

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/17/2008 5:35:48 PM)

Well got the day off work. Sliced my hand cutting meat yesterday and they won't let me cut meat for a few days.. Its giving me a chance to work on the helicopter. One of my main concerns was all the slop in the tail rotor. Tweekster over at RC Groups came up with this mod. T Rex 600 tail rotor and blades. A little cutting ,drilling and its done very nice and no slop. I Had to go with the 600 tail fin due to the longer 600 blades. Think total price like 25 bucks. The more I work with this helicopter the more I like it. Time for a cold one. Mike

Zimatosa -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 12:11:09 AM)

Hey,

Noticed you guys talking about receivers....You probably know this but if you buy Spektrum receivers (I think it is any one) till the end of April, they will give you one free for every one you buy. Seems you guys have enough Kopters to warrant buying a few extra for later projects. Heck, you can even sell them later to help cut down your expenses. You need 'em anyway to fly all heli's on one radio....

Peace,

Z

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 12:15:12 AM)

I think you have to buy a "system" with a extra receiver then they will give you a freebie. Still a very good deal. Mike

Zimatosa -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 12:37:20 AM)

Yes, you are correct. Nutt had said he just bought the radio. Errr Umm, I meant that HE should buy an extra one:) I know that i am going to jump on the DX bandwagon B4 May. I will have 2 Heli's by next month and it will come in handy to at least have one extra. I am having a CopterX AE450 shipped to me from USA dealer for $179.00 total....

I am not ready for a Heli in a 600 yet[:D]

Peace,

Z

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 12:46:59 AM)

You never have enough recivers. I need 3 or 4 more 7000's.

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 2:03:56 AM)

I was thinking about ordering extra Rx's but you need to have purchased the Tx at a specific site and order the extra Rx's when buying the Tx

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/18/2008 9:44:46 PM)

I found someone to 3D my E-Smart when its done [:D], guess I'll have to do some more upgrading [:D] I wanna see this thing go inverted

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6RccNOUG2uc - check him out

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/21/2008 6:54:17 PM)

Alright guys,

I have decided to go with the Esmart. Where is the best place to get them and parts?

What electronics are you all running- motor, batts, servos?

GY401 be ok for this bird?

Thanks!

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/21/2008 7:13:25 PM)

I believe Helidirect is the cheapest place $199.99 with motor
http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=223&products_id=2105 only bad part is that some of the kits are still the old plastic versions or a mix of old and new kits, I bought mine from BPHobbies and got the actual semi-metal kit, the only version made now (they used to have 3 seperate versions now just the semi-metal, the Crabon and full metal are upgraded semi-metal kits, much easier now)
http://www.bphobbies.com/view.asp?id=B2131397&pid=NESK7335 the kit I bought.
Also Ka-Planes now sells the E-Smart and parts, so you can check there too
http://www.ka-planes.com/inc/sdetail/10694 $1 more then I spent at BPhobbies, they also have the kit with motor for $10 more then HeliDirect, damn this is making me want to start another one after I finish the first one, think I might now, except I'll order from Ka-Planes, gotta support my fav heli vendor, they didn't sell them when I first bought mine, I also found a $98 battery for mine, w00t

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/22/2008 1:32:39 AM)

http://www.helidirect.com/product_info.php?cPath=29_223&products_id=2105

I went this route. As Far a electronics I got all the Align stuff that the 600 uses. The 401 will be fine but get a good digital servo to run the tail. I went with the Logitech 2100T gyro and a Futaba S9254. I'm using the DS821's for the other 3 servos. Dx7 and a 7000 receiver. I went ahead and did some upgrades to the head and tail. I'm going with a 5 cell lipo for starter and am going to try a set of A123's I'm assembling. Most are flying them stock with no issues. Check the forum over at RC Groups there's a lot if info there. I'm really happy so far with the build and am hoping to get it all finished buy the weekend. Here's some pics.
Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 3:57:03 PM)

just bought the last of my parts yesterday, bringing the grand total to $868.43 for everything, complete list and prices on first page

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 6:26:51 PM)

I really want to get started with this bird, but I need to get rid of my King 2 first. If you guys know of anyone looking for one, especially with an upgraded CNC head, PLEASE let me know.

Thanks!
