Keep the King. Its really handy to have around. I still mess with mine every chance I get and I can fly it here at home. These bigger ones require lots of space. Its worth more to you than you might think. Mike

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 9:18:38 PM)

I really wish I could mike, but I need the money- can't have both.

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 10:22:46 PM)

Money the downfall of all of us. Good luck I would try E Bay but you need to understand its never worth what you have in it. Good Luck Mike

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 10:44:51 PM)

Actually got some work done on this thing. Mounting the servos was a pain in the a$$. Gyros in everything going the right way radio wise. Now the hard part cleaning up the wiring, mounting the electronics to balance, tracking and pitch adjustment then the test hop. Getting closer buy the day. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/23/2008 11:38:49 PM)

I'm jealous, I'm waiting on the last few parts, mainly a set of calipers so I can do some measuring on my links before trying to install those PIA's, they have some good starting points over there, but I'm sure you already saw them

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/24/2008 12:04:23 AM)

I checked the all with my calipers re-sized the links and so on. When it came to final assembly there was still some work to do to get them all square. I thought I had it but when I needed to change some of the setting in the radio I had to do some work with the "sub trims" I normally don't like to do that since I set everything up 90 degrees but it just didn't work out that way this time. Putting the servos in is a real pain but it can be done. Tomorrow after work I'll mount the motor set the pinon and maybe spool her up for the 1st time. I know your concerned about your servo chose but you should be fine if all set set up correct and running smooth. I just would not push those servos to hard. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/24/2008 12:12:44 AM)

nope, just wanna hover it, then I'll be happy [:D], just got back from flying my HBK II down at the park, theres dead bugs all over my rotor blades [:'(]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/24/2008 10:37:02 PM)

Now this is weird. Got everything set up yesterday and was getting all the stuff mounted and secured, everything nice and tidy (almost too nice and tidy for me). Turned on to check everything and one of the servos is dead, pulled out the spare and it works so the servos died overnight. I need to figure a better way of mounting these servos because it a major Pain In The A$$ to pulled and replace them. I did get the motor mounted and spun it up a bit without the main blades, very impressive. I'm still looking at this weekend if all goes well. Mike

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/24/2008 11:27:08 PM)

How does a servo 'die' overnight?

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/25/2008 12:10:17 AM)

I'm going to take it apart and see. My guess it a loose wire or something stupid. Better on the bench than in the air.

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/25/2008 2:09:33 AM)

Gotcha- if you can, let us know what you find.

Thanks

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/25/2008 9:05:59 PM)

Talked to the LHS and hes a good guy. He offered to send the servo in for repair ( nice because I really want to know what the deal is with it) If I take it apart it voids any warranty ( even tough I got it on E Bay hes still sending it in). I Replaced it and everything is working great. I need to track the blades and set pitch but I'm finished . Here are the end results. If the wind don't stop I'll test hop it Sunday at a friends warehouse. We will see. Mike

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 1:08:25 AM)

OK balance seems to be a issue here. With my 5S pack I'm going to need some sort of extension on this to get it to balance. I have no idea how these guys are shoving 4 3S packs into the battery holder and get it to balance. I've got several ideas as what to do but the test hop is postponed till I get it balanced right. Mike

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 1:54:54 AM)

Finished product less the battery tray mod. I'll have it figured out by Monday. Mike

flyinsolo11 -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 2:28:29 AM)

Awesome- bummer about the problem...

Just out of curiosity mike, what is your ability level w/ helis?

Thanks

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 6:21:33 AM)

lookin good Mike. I'm still trying to figure my DX6i out. trying to get it working with a AR6100e on my Belt CP but its not working [:o] not giving me alot of confidence to put my AR6200 on my E-Smart [&o]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 1:02:49 PM)

Don't give up I saw your other posts on RC Groups about it. To be honest its probably something stupid, it normally is with a new radio that your unfamiliar with. I felt the same way about my DX7 until I played with it for awhile now its a snap to program after 4 or 5 helicopters I've set up. Since I have no experience with the Dx6i I'll hunt around and see what info I can find. Flyinsolo my experience is pretty limited I've only been flying helicopters a little over a year. My flying is pretty much in the novice stage. Nose in still gives me fits and I learn more ever flight. While on the sim I can do almost anything in reality its a different story. I guess that's why I really liked the helicopter over fixed wing. I've flown fixed wings for over 15 years, Scale, Multi-Engines, Scale Acrobatics , WW I and II and got bored (plus we lost our field to housing were in the process of building a new one) so helicopters fit the bill. I must admit its the most fun my friends and I have had in some time. That my story and I'm sticking to it. Mike

Nut go to this tread go down a few posts. There's a guy who has a 6i in a Belt CP. I'm sure he will be able to share setting with you. I dint check the whole tread but I'm sure you'll get your answers there. Let me know. Good Luck. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 1:50:57 PM)

yeah they've been tryng to help me, I know its something unbelieveably stupid but I don't know what to look for [:)]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 2:13:27 PM)

Call Horizon. They used to have a support site here but I guess it closed down awhile back. I looked over the manual online and nowhere does it say anything about switching between Mode 1or Mode 2. Have you tried to PM they guy who has the set up on the Belt and 6i on the other tread?

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 2:16:02 PM)

they've all been trying to help already but noone knows, eventually someone will see it and say "oh here's what you do" and it'll be that simple, I'm gonna try and call now, don't know if they were open on sun

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 2:30:20 PM)

[:D]SWEET, fixed it, not totally sure what I did, re-bound it with everything in the failsafe position, all the switches the up/back, reversed aileron and now all is well, interesting but w00t [:D]

rcmiket -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 2:39:57 PM)

See told you you would figure it out. You won't believe how much better your heli will respond with a good radio. You can fine tune it to your specs. Great job. Winds blowing here so I'm off to a friends warehouse to fly the King and 450, watch the race and have some brats and a few cold ones. Sure wish I had the E Smart ready to go. Mike

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 3:51:40 PM)

lol, I'm on my way to the garage for some testing, w00t

nuttcaze -> RE: E-Smart 600 thread (4/27/2008 4:47:48 PM)

GLITCH Free is the WAY to BE [:D], the DX6i is freaking awesome, took me some time to get it set up right but wow, makes my Belt CP happy [:)] now aout time to start the E-Smart[:D]
