Do you need a set of very strong and light weight carbon fiber landing gear for your airplane? Or perhaps a new set of wheels? Maybe you want to try Mercury Adhesives that have been taking the hobby by storm for the last year or so? Well, TNT Landing Gear had you covered on all counts.

SkyShark R/C had their new Extra 300s on display. This mid-size model is available in both glow and electric power configurations designed specifically for electric power. Both versions are also available "Receiver Ready" for the shortest time from box to flying field possible. Also on display are their new Lightning line of brushless motors, Ultra speed controls and their Perfect Balance Li-Po batteries.

Rite Hobby was directly next door with an impressive line of electric power items. They have two new chargers that make charging multiple Li-Po batteries as easy as possible. The larger unit will charge up to 6 Li-Po cells at 4A. With optional plug adapters, it can also charge 2 3-cell batteries or 3 2-cell batteries concurrently since the charger monitors each cell individually. It will also perform discharge duties and all data about each cell can be downloaded and saved on a computer via USB connection. The smaller charger will handle up to 4 Li-Po cells at up to 4A. It does not discharge or have the computer interface. Both chargers can be used with the optional expansion module which allows sequential charging of up to 6 batteries without having to reconfigure or restart the charger when each pack completes it's charge.

Sonic RC Model had a neat looking EP ducted fan F-14 on display as well as their line of retractable landing gear, fan units, brushless motors and ESC's.

C.B. Hobby House was present with their initial offering, a nicely built Yak 54.

EnerLand had their A123 Li-Po batteries on hand. These amazing batteries are much safer than traditional Li-Po's and can support up to 50c burst discharge rates.

Ohio Model Products was here again with all kinds of great looking electric and glow powered aerobatic and 3D capable model airplanes.

AeroBalsa had their unique line of R/C autogyros on hand. These models build easy, fly very well and are much easier to fly than you might imagine. They fly more like an airplane than a helicopter in spite of the rotor assembly used to generate lift and sustain flight.

Microglass was present once again this year with their extensive selection of R/C and static boat hulls and plans. They offer high quality hulls and plans for you to base your next scale masterpiece on.

Loyalhanna Dockyard offers full kits of all types of R/C watercraft. They are a fully one stop shop with kits, accessories, fittings power systems.

Let's take a look at some more of the very fine looking static models present this year.

The Fokker Eindecker was built by Jeff Shutic of Wakeman, Ohio.

The Bridi Super Kaos was built by Paul Floccari of Taylor, Michigan.

Laddie Mikulsasko built the Thurston Teal seaplane.

Bryant Thompson of Champaign, Illinois built the U2450 Submarine.

Jack Kipfer of Waterloo, Ontario Canada built the Long Deck Launch. The picture does not do this model justice. The craftsmanship present on this model is very impressive. Every individual strip and plank on the foredeck fits perfectly. I looked this model over as best I could while observing the no touch rule, and I could not find a flaw in the workmanship.

Bryant Thompson also built the SG+K 22 ft. Runabout.

Patrick Matthews of West Matthews built the Yamoto.

Stuart Warner of Westlake, Ohio built the blue and yellow Hoiman old timer.

Andrew Haggery of Warren, Michigan built the Intercepter old timer.

John Fryant of Mainville, Ohio build the Dallaire Sportster.

Kerry Muncy of Mooresville, Indiana built the AH-64 Apache.

I did not get the name of the builder of the 1/3 scale Jago Panther tank. However, I he was present for a short Q&A session where he explained that much of the body was constructed using PVC sheet and pipe. The vast majority of the vehicle was scratch built by himself including casting each individual link for the tracks.

JWN,

Thanx for all the great pics and description of the show. Wish I could have been there, but you provided the next best thing. I am sure we all--the entire RCU community--appreciate it.

Expanding a bit more on C. B. Hobby House. I had dinner with him, Tom and Patty from Wild Hare, and my wife Saturday night.

"Charley" is solidly into manfacturing machined metal parts (landing gear and aluminum axles for now) and was the original kit manufacturer for Wild Hare. If there is a company that's looking for a good source of carbon tubes in assorted sizes C.B. would be a great wholesale location to contact for bulk orders.

He's good people and a straight up business person.

She was there again this year. I guess John just didn't get a shot of her this year.

I'm working up to both Hobbico and Horizon Hobby.

Mrs. SkyShark was always at the opposite end of the booth from the airplane when I walked by. Sorry guys.
