G'day All,

What servos do people recommend for electric 2 metre pattern ships? I believe one can use smaller servos because of the low vibration levels.

I normally use Hitec or Multiplex digital servos.

Cheers
Jason.

Hi Jason,

I personally don't use Hitec or Multiplex, not bagging them though. I use Futaba servos. As you can appreciate weight with an electric pattern model is important.

I currently use the 9650, 4.5 kg .11 sec @ 6v these come in at about 26 grams from memory. One on each aileron (obviously) and one on the elevator. And a normal 8-11kg servo for the rudder

I'm sure Hitec/ Multiplex have servos similar in specifications.

Hope this helps

Chris

Thanks Chris,

Meant to ask you yesterday at the Pitt Town comp but forgot. Must have been too hectic.. lol

Did you hear that Tom C's next model will be powered by electrons?

Cheers
Jason.

Hi Chris,

On my Pinnacle I'm using two HS5245MG's on the elevators. They have 5.5Kg @ 6V but are a little heavier than the 9650 @ 32 grams. Here's the specs: http://www.hitecrcd.com/servos/show?name=HS-5245MG

If you're using the 9650's then I guess 5245's should be suitable for ailerons and elevators.

The only negative with the 5245 is they don't have coreless motors. They do however have full programming capability which is fantastic.

Anyway I still have some time for a decision. Just wanted to know what other people are using and suggest.

Cheers
Jason.
