Has anyone here on the forum ever had one of these Tyco R/C tanks.(about like the average size 1/24 scale models) I bought it off ebay for $6.00 dollars to use as a static model,no transmitter and the gun barrel was missing. The gun barrel is a easy fix,and it fires up when it's turned on but no transmitter to test it out to see what still works other than the engine sound.I know these were cheap toy tanks but they seem to be built as good as most of the 1/24 scale models I have bought. The speaker they put in this tank is "big"
and the interior stuff is built well, even has a turret motor. What I would like to know is the FREQUENCY of the transmitter that was used for these tanks.A few pictures below.--BIGMIG

I made a quick gun barrel for it and it is actually kind of a cute little tank, the cheapest one I have bought so far not counting the shipping.A couple of pictures below.A nice addition to my collection. BIGMIG

It's a typical "bitsa" toy tank, looks like a bit of Leopard 1A1, some Chinese Type 59. Have a look on the main circuit board, they often have their frequency written on the IC chips, or find the onboard crystal (sometimes half-height compared to HL style), get the component/model code off it and look it up on the net to find the frequency

I have an old Tyco "Zig-Zag" - its a crazy-fast tracked RC thing (shaped kinda like a Ferrari), and when it gets hung up, you press sideways on the transmitter and these 4 wheels pop-out from underneath and it can "sidestep" away from what its stuck on. I'll get some pics shortly

Kind of a stretch as a static model (static most often means scale) don't you think? Very toyish but you have to admit the unintentionally funny "TIGER TANK" script on the side is hilarious, an awfully dubious claim in the extreme.

Is it really made by Tyco? They made rather upscale RC toys at one time.

Your toy tank has very strong lines, however, and as such it is very reminiscient of the old Japanese Type 74 MBT made by Mitsubishi Heavy Industries. Basic overall layout, 5 roadwheels, etc. That's more or less what it is so why not break out some Rising Sun national insignia and make it authentic?

Static means "doesnt move" as in non-RC...

No kidding?

If he has no intention of making it more than it is right now, a cheap toy, then the true description would be static toy.

Static model in the usual parlance has always meant a scale model, a non-moving model if you really need to be so idiomatic.

Ya I looked around also to see what I could find on one of these and found basicly nothing. One thing seems apparent,no one here on this forum has had or now has one of them.So in that sense it is even more of a colector's item to me.I would like to track down a transmitter for it though.I have tryed all my radios on it and the turret will try to move in one direction with one radio, the oposite direction with another radio and one track in reverse with another radio.I think with the right transmitter, everything is most likely in working condition. It's a well made little ( TOY ) tank. Idiomatic? No, static does not mean scale, never has. It could be as out of scale as possible, and still be static (non-moving)

STATIC
[adjective] not in physical motion "the inertia of an object at rest"
Synonyms: inactive, motionless, still

To whomever- I have this same tiger tank. It's complete and works perfectly. Have had it for 15 or so years. On the transmitter case I can read 27mhz. Iy has an FCC ID # CP57386011. Made in Singapore. Treads are starting to wear a little.

Hello Mole,
glad to finally get a reply from someone who actually has one of these.Mine seems to be in exelent condition and tracks are very good.Would like to someday find a radio for it.Was there any other change in the sound other than engine iddling sound. Also what was the square light on the right front of the turret as you are facing the front of the tank, what did it do.They appear to be a well made tank overall. Big Mig The volume just controls the diesel sound. There are 2 buttons on the transmitter, one produces a machine gun sound and the other the main gun. When the main gun fires the square light flashes. Runs only straight in reverse but tyrns in the forward mode. Climbs real well. Mole
