Hi Guys,

I have an interesting thing that I saw happen with my receiver. I say "thing" rather then "problem" because I'm not sure if there is a problem.

I have a Brand New (bought from Tower 2 weeks ago) Hitec - FM Supreme IIS 8ch. Ultra narrow dual conversion Auto shift receiver.

Here's what happened. When I turned "ON" the Receiver first then the Transmitter, I heard slight gear movement sounds, like you would hear when normally turning on the radio. However then when I moved the sticks nothing worked. Absolutely dead almost as if the radio was not even turned on.

When I powered up the other way around the Transmitter first then the Receiver everything worked fine.

I plan to use this in Q-500 as I have before with many of my other Hitec Supreme Receivers in my Q-500 planes. The only diference is this is the Auto shift version, does that make a difference. Will there be any issues using this receiver in Q-500???

I don't have any other Supremes set up in planes, that are fully functional at this time to test against with to see if they do the same thing.

Hey Hitec Guru's what gives????

Thanks in advance for the answers and info you will offer up.

Ed

Golden Rule with all RC systems "TX On first - Off Last" this is stated in the TX manuals of most brands of RC systems, especially under range testing, and in the instruction sheet for that RX as published HFD08RO 8 ch Dual Conversion Supreme ll FM (RX) Receiver .
TX on first is more important now than ever before as the modern RX with PLL, IPD, AGC and other similar features search for and lock onto a nearby signal and if TX is turned on later, the receiver may not then be able to lock onto the then correct signal. (Also beware that if the RX is ever turned on first, the rx whilst searching for a signal may drive the servos beyond their physical stops or pull control surfaces beyond their limits.) Further information available under "Glitches & Jitter in RX & Servo - causes and cures" on my web page.

Hi Alan,

Thanks for your fast reply, I know about the so called Golden rule, I just never had it not operate the receiver at all.

Thanks for the info..

Ed
