Hi,

I was just looking at OS's Japanese website and saw that they've released a .35AX.

Any idea on when it'll be on Tower Hobbies? I have a Sig Wonder I'm about to order that will be a great fit for it[>:].

Isn't it a big too fat for a wonder ? Heavier than the .32SX that already was a bit too heavy... My wonder flies VERY nicely on a .15LA ... not the fastest ship though.

Exactly why I want the 35 on there. For no other reason. Really, it's not about the speed.[>:]

Seriously though, isn't the 35AX more of a torque engine than the hot little 32 was? I mean, one of the recommended prop sizes is a 12x6. That's what my 55ax spun before I sold it (hopefully still does). It turned up 1000's of RPM's higher...but still, the torque! I think this one is meant more for something like a Swany Taco or a Mojo 30. Am I totally off my rocker or what? It seems like the 55, 75, and 120 are all torque...but my 46 is a nice, hot motor

Well said. However that engine is rather expensive ! More than the 46 AX !

Good thing you don't have to build them with parts, they total around $320! Definitely a throw-away engine! On another note, isn't it weird how engine sizes have come full circle? .35's used to be a popular size, and everything moved up to .40 size. .40 got to be old hat and .46 and .50 size engines became the norm. Now it's a new .35 and .55 by OS. Maybe I'll keep my .40-.46 engines for when they become popular again. [:)] Ross

What's cool is that the .35 will perform better than the older .40's and the .55 is right up there with the .61's.

I'm a real fan of the AX line. I've had the .55 and .75 and a 1.20 is being delivered today.

Both of my AX's have been so easy to use and reliable. The .55 especially is a real powerhouse. I would not hesitate to buy another if my next project calls for that engine size.

Yes, I think OS stumbled with the FX line but have finally gotten back on track. I love the SF line that preceded the FX's. And now, I also think the AX's are great.

I've never had a bad experience with an FX motor either. Only ones that have bugged me were LA series because they had like NO power, but they were meant to be light, cheap motors that didn't produce as much power as other engines of the same displacement. Also, I had a 46AX that was running weird...but then I woke up and realized it was all just a really bad dream[:D].

what will be next??? i hope its about a 25 size. that size is used in alot of applications. Also for open B combat, a 25 to 29 would be great!! in open B there is a .30 limit

Since the newest engine is going to be a .35AX, I would guess that the next one would be something like a .95AX. This is right between the .75AX and the 1.20AX.

I hope you're right Ed. I asked that question a while ago.

Their next engine to be released will be a 1.10 alpha series 4-stroke.

The Guys from the OS factory in Japan visited our field last year. Unfortunately i didn't get to meet them but they showed some impressive stats to my clubmates. Did you know that make over 250,000 engines per year.

Always pay attention to the size of the carburetor venturi in relation to the displacement of the engine. This is what determines the operating rpm range of any non-pumped engine. The AX line may be much more powerful at low rpm than previous models, but they won't draw fuel very well when propped that slow.

I did get the 32SX at Graves here in Orlando florida they had 6 now 5 almost sorry I did not wait did not know about the 35AX when I bought it but not that unhappy as stated the 35 AX should cover the 25 thru 46 needs , fuel draw if an issue maybe solved by using the foremost one way pressure fitting in the exhaust to tank line have had great results with these
regardless of tank position and cheap 6 bucks martin

Ed, it seems like OS may want to replace something like the OS 160FX. I mean, they've got everything between a 35 and a 120 basically covered. They don't really have anything bigger y'know? Either that or something to replace their .10/.15 series. I don't know if they'd go with a .95 as their 120 basically covers that one. The 120 is only 3oz more than the 91, less if you remove the baffle! I don't think they need another engine inbetween their current range. I guess the same could be said about the 55 though, so a 95 seems like something they'd make.

I don't know. We're all just guessing anyway, right. Something in the 1.60 size would be good, too. There seem to be lots of planes in the 72-76" span range that would use it for power.

I would bet money that it would be a torquer, ather than a revver. High rpm, speed engines seem to have a much smaller market these days. With scale and 3D being popular, the torque engines sell better.

I bet, since they have a full line of 2-cycles and 4-cycles, they're going to surprise us all and release the first 3-cycle glow engine.[sm=stupid.gif]

Sorry, it's 100° where I live and I don't do well in the heat.

3 cycle?? maybe a twin one side 4 strk the other 2 strk just got in too hot out there heat does funny stuff to you martin
