Ok guys, i used to be into r/c cars and i know a lot of people built there own packs. I figured you guys would be the best to ask this question to. I need to build an 18V pack either the same size or smaller than 2 9V batteries. Is this even possible? It is going in an electronic hopper for a paintball gun, and i want something better than regular nine volts. Is there a way to even build a pack that small with that much voltage? Thanks in advance for the help guys.

If you need it to be smaller than 2 9 volts, then going to a lipo battery would be best bet. For the same size battery you can get a much higher voltage. It should be able to have similar capacity and voltage and be about the size of 1 9 volt battery. I sure don't know where to get the cells though.

Check this site perhaps sorting by size. http://www.progressiverc.com/Research.html Use a 4s or 5s depending upon what actual voltage you need.

Ok, thanks for the help, I really appreciate it. The only problem is i have no idea what all those numbers mean. Is there an faq for that stuff somewhere?? Also i didnt find it showing voltage on that chart. Am i just looking wrong?

The voltage may not be on there. For lipos a nominal voltage of 3.7 per cell is used , and that will correspond with an empty pack. 4.2 volts per cell is for a full pack. Depending upon how hard the current draw is the operating voltage may be anywhere between 3 and 4 volts per cell. Usually it works out to divide the number of nimh cells by 3 to get the lipo equivellant.

4S column should be 14.8 volts
5S column should be 18.5 volts

You may even want to go with 6S for higher voltage.

The smallest pack I see is a 500 mah and is probably still way too big , I don't get into tiny batts really , but if you search for a truck called the mini-t it may use some very tiny cells. Maybe they would be small enough.

Ok, thanks for the help guys. I think i may just make a pack with two nine volts and put a single connector on it. I would then change the dual connector in the loader to a single as well. Thanks, and ill be back, im sure ill have more questions. Thanks Again
