It depends, how much you can tolerate an out of balance condition, how close the cells are matched, how nice you are to the pack and whether it is a healthy pack.

It's kinda like asking "how often do I need to air up my car tires?" It can vary between never and every ride. It just depends on if they leak and how much and how much variance is between them.

A GOOD QUALITY PACK THAT"S NEVER ABUSED AND MATCHED well will not need balanced ever. It may be a good idea to at least check the pack until a history is established.

I do not balance at the field while charging and do balance whiling charging at home. The ratio is about 2:1. No problem with the battery (TP 1300) for over a year.

Great, simmo8, you are right.
I think the difference of cell voltage should be under 15mv, if the difference is over 50mv, The battery pack will not be safe when you charge or discharge. the high voltage cell will be over charged, and the low voltage cell will be discharged.
