Hey guys,
Today I just bought a 99 WRX STi 22B shell and this is the colour scheme I want:

Pearl white body, black/carbon looking hood and black/carbon looking spoiler. Possibly tinted look on the windows.

My questions:
1. Is white a bad colour of choice? Will it stain, fade, or have any more negative effects than another colour? This will be the daily shell but I still want it looking good

2. How would I go with painting the hood/wing black? Would I mask the hood, paint the whole body white, and then just spray over with black for the hood after I take the masking off? If so, would I need to mask the white parts, or will the black not show through anyway?

3. I have some white rims, how could I paint them bronze/gold? Would this be ok or will they forever chip/discolour?

Thanks heaps for any help.
PS. I am after the JDM racer look on the car so any other ideas are welcome. I was thinking of painting the roof black as well but thought would look tacky on a small car? As well as black trunk which I thought maybe not a good idea

white is ok but you can see the dirt on it badly and you might need to buy , can o air to blow off the dirt because if you wash it the paint miht fade and distort but white is ok and for the tinted windows, well you can just buy them to put on like stickers, a good site for the paint and decals if you want decals is:

The Site: www.rchobbies.org

Recommendation: http://h1071118.hobbyshopnow.com/services/advanceresultsDetail.asp?strProd=TINT&strSearchType=ALL&strInCategory=ALL&strInManufacturer=ALL&tag=qsrch

2. For the hood and wing i would give it a base paint of black then after that there are two ways you can do this,

i) Put on little dark grey dots but in the same pattern, eg. http://www.kooltoyz.co.uk/images/rc%20helicopter%20cp2%20carbon%20fibre%20main%20blades.jpg
if you can get it look like that it would be good

ii) get a decal type carbon fibre look

Or just buy a new wing and hood

3. You could paint the rims but i do not know what would happen but if i was you i would look on ebay or RC Hobbies, pm and tell me what scale your 99 WRX STi 22B is and i will try find some wheels for you

Buy some Rit dye and dye them.

Wow there are some crazy ideas given on how to paint things in here. Here is my 2 cents.

White is not a bad choice of color but it will look kind of plain if you don't draw in the body panel lines with a sharpe pen.

ALWAYS paint dark colors first (black then white in this case) The black would make the white change color when painted over it.

For your body I would mask off the windows....paint the whole body white and then back the white with a silver. The silver backing will make it so you can't see through the white. As for your hood I would probably use this >Parma carbon fiber decal You could also use that on the wing.

For your wheels you could use Rit dye but I don't think they offer a gold dye. You could paint them gold but it will most likely chip off after a lil use. Your best bet is probably to buy a new set of gold/bronze wheels.
