Hello all , i am in the process of putting floats on my Euro Hobbies Beaver. My question is i am not familiar with figuring out wing incidence and the wing is 7 1/2" from front to back and the front is 3/4's of an inch higher at the front when the floats are level. Is this to much??

Geoff

Far too much. You have 6 degrees of negetive incidence in the floats. 2 degrees would be plenty for a flat bottom wing and 2 degrees over 7 1/2 inches would only be 1/4".

I fly this boat with 0 degrees difference between the flat bottomed Clarke Y's of the wing and tail. It simply builds speed and lift up looking flat. It glides in to land by staying level and simply sinking as power is reduced.

I read in a column from MAN that you want 0 degrees between the floats and the wing. Otherwise you will not lift off with out adding a bunch of elevator. He also recommended NOT using wood props as they are too fragile to handle the water. The other tip was to have a wide stance to help avoid tipping over.

You want approximately 2 degrees positive incidence in the wing when the floats are level. That is the same as 2 degrees negetive in the floats when the wing is level. 0 degrees is seldom enough.

Just like to say thanks to the guys that replied to my question. I have set up the floats with as instructed and will be re-maidening it this weekend. The last floats i had got water under the covering and rotted a bit so i put new floats on and recovered the plane.
