just finished reading up on some tiger commanders
A guy that I've never even heard of pop's up His name is KURT KNISPEL and he was accredited with 168 confirmed kills which could even be as high as 195 (unconfirmed)

So my question and hope to spark a serious debate as to why commanders like OTTO CARIUS,MICHAEL WHITTMAN and JOHANES BOLTER are regarded (or seem to be) with higher asteem
Don't shoot me was just curious LOL

Otto Carius 150 kills
Johanes Bolter 139 kills
Michael Whittman 138 Kills

I don't know a lot about tiger aces and have only just started looking them up so if my info is wrong
I hope no harm done

Rob

As I understand he wasn't always a tank commander but worked his way up to it. I think he was mostly a gunner with a second sense of when and how to fire.

yes i have read that about him starting of as a gunner
so doe's that make a difference (or did it make a difference then)
he was also from czechoslovakia and i'm guessing that might have something to do with it to maybe

Thanks for that

Rob

I take it you read Panzer Aces I & II. That's where I got my information. I was just as surprised as you (someone as successful as him has not received the same level of recognition as others)

thats very interesting. I was never much of a artilary enthusiast before but since doing up my Heng Long Tiger I have become somewhat fascinated by tanks!

Thanks for the info.
