Finally got around to starting construction on my Stinger. I'm going to pin the firewall and add some reinforcement to it just to be safe. Using four Futaba S3010's on the wing and S3305's on the tail. For power I'm going to use a MT57cn and a Xoar 23x8 prop. Should be a great plane for fooling around with and fun flys.

Not much to see right now, once I get it done I'll put some up and maybe a few as I build if you wish. Won't be finished untill some time in July as I leave on vacation next week.

I'll try to post some pics tonight when I get home. Had the ignition module reworked and is back in the plane. Brought it out last weekend to fly and I could not get it to run right. Got it home and found the tygon tubing came off from inside the tank. So, Got that fixed and will bring it out this weekend. Had to add about 8 oz of weight up front to ballance. I have a Brellelli GT 46 on front.

Will give a flight report once I get to the field.

Mine died before I even got to fly it. I had heard warnings about re-enforcing it so I added more triangular stock around the fuel tank area and the firewall and addedmore epoxy in this area. I also pinned my firewall. When I had it out at the field I was running the first tank of fuel through the engine as it was new. Then I went out and was just taxing around the field to loosen up the engine a bit. A gust of wind caught the wing and flipped it over. The plane just exploaded. We all just stood there with our mouths hanging open. It was like, no way. When we examined it there was next to no glue around the wing hold down mounts and they just pulled out of the win. The fuselage around the rear wing mount has very little strength and needed to be beefed up. We concluded that if I had flown it it would have broke up in the air so I'm glad it happened on the ground. Here is a couple of pics.

I have mine almost built but cant figure out where to mount the two switches. Is underneath the wing saddle a good place to mount them.

In the picture above you can see where I had my two switches. The one for the radio is under the wing on the left side and the one for the ignition is on the left side in the center of the red stripe.

I finaly got my Giant Stinger ARF this saturday (8-16-08). I bought it from our club president with only a few flights on it. He sold it to me ready to fly with a G62 and a JR XP7202 ScanSelect radio. I love it. It flys at a quarter throtle and has amaizing aerobatic capabilities. Heres a picture of it by my SkyRaider Mach II. I will post more pics later. My Stinger has the Magneto switch right in front of the wing and the radio switch right behind the wing (you can see this in the picture). It is set up with one servo on the rudder instead of two. It is also equiped with a spring starter.

I have one of the 80 inch arf stingers, I am just getting it done and am looking forward to flying it this week.
I would like to know if 2 servo's are needed in each wing panel? I know that on my edge everyone say's just use one servo per-wing panel, can this been done on the stinger as well.
I have mounted a 50cc engine on mine, it looks really big for this plane. I have put extra epoxy over everything I could reach and extra wood everywhere it look weak.
I also had to add a lot of wieght to the rear of this plane to balance it, I used a battery for this, I cut the bottom of the fuse right bellow the servo's and mounted my 6 cell 3600 nicad battery here, took some scrap ply and made a access door.
I read that on my JR DX6i the receiver can handle up to 9.6 volts, and the servo's are the same, I am running a 7.2 volt nicad battery with no regulator. I have powered up this radio with everything connected and it works great.
