Status: offline 		hello ivw been in rc cars for a few years now and i want to get in airplanes. I was looking at a parkflyers.com cessna 182 4ch. or a hobby zone super cub(those are in price range). If anyone has other recomendations or tips please help a newbie out out!! thx

Status: offline 		Most of those cessnas tend to be good - just not so good for new pilots. They have to fly fairly fast, they have 4 channels rather than 3 (which lets you get into more difficult to recover situations). If you are getting someone to help you learn to fly then the cessna should be fine, but if you are doing it yourself then get the supercub.

The Parkflyers Cessna is manufactured by ArtTech and there are two versions on the market. The original version came with a 480 brushed motor. The newer version comes with a brushless motor. Opinions on the plane are split right down the middle: half of the flyers absolutely hate it and the other half absolutely love it. However, everyone agrees that its a very fragile plane that is definitely not suited for a beginner. Also, just about everyone agrees that the supplied electronics are junk and must be replaced. The wing breaks very easily and MUST be reinforced with carbon rods and tape. The landing gear is very weak and bends at the slightest "rough" landing or if you try landing on grass.

If you are looking for a first time plane, there is nothing better on the market than the SuperCub. Get the SC, learn to flyit, then a wide world of "second" planes will open up to you. If for some reason you don't want to get the SC, check out the Multiplex EasyStar. It's nearly as good for a beginner as the SC. The major drawback is that it has no landing gear.

Status: offline 		thanks guys! i just didnt want to get a crappy plane because money is very tight since im only14 also if i go with the super cub will it be able to keep up with my skill as i proggress or be upgraded to where its not totaly noobish? thanks!

Status: offline 		There's much that can be done to upgrade the Super Cub; add ailerons, brushless motor, Lipo batteries, but it'll require an upgrade to the radio system, too.

I would suggest getting the SC and make sure this hobby is the way you want to go since it can get very expensive. Since it flies right out of the box, and some places will even give you an extra battery with the purchase, it will be all you need for a while.

Spare parts (I'm not going to call them repair parts to keep your enthusiasm up) are readily available from your LHS or on line and aren't that expensive.

There are other planes that cost less, but in the long run I'm sure you'll enjoy the SC much better.
