I have recently started a pretty large home improvement project, so I haven't had as much time to spend on RCU as I used to. I just wanted to let everyone know that both of my girls had their first buddy-box flights with their new trainers at our club fun-fly on March 30th, and they had a blast. Both planes flew great, and the girls got a lot of stick time.

I flew my "Twister" plane for the fun fly, and I managed to tie for first prize. It was a "Poker" fun fly, so winning had more to do with the cards than my flying, but I did manage to get the maximum number of cards. "Twister" is a really fun plane to fly, and I expect that I will use it for a lot of fun fly events.

I hope everyone is having a great spring.

Hey Mclina, thats great about your daughters, my 11 yr old boy has improved alot also, he is really close to soloing. I had to get that video game controler out of his mind and learn how to be easyer on the sticks, a little expo helped also. I remember seeing the twister, what plane was it based off of? I got my corostar 60 flying and another stick also. man before you know it there are a pile of spads sitting in the shop waiting to be flown. I had five out last sunday.

"Twister" is pretty much a Debonair, scaled down to about 75% and flying with an OS.25FX.

SPAD's sure do build fast, and you can pile a bunch of them into the car without worrying about damage. For the fun fly, we packed the two trainers, "Twister", my combat Derelict, lawn chairs, field boxes, and three kids, into my Honda CR-V.

Good luck to your son. I hope to hear of his solo soon.

that's awsome!! how old are your kids and how young do you think they can start? my daughter is almost 7 and i'm waiting for the right time to get her on the slowstick. i still have some reservations, but i'll have the buddy box to make sure all goes well and are safe.

I had one of my kids flying my Slow Stick at 8 years old. They are now 9, 10, and 12, and there are definitely kids that age who are great flyers. I don't see much risk in putting a 7 year old on a Slow Stick with a buddy box. Get her plenty of altitude and let her give it a try.

Good luck.
