Not to spoil anyone's creativity with hybrid ag planes, why not offer it as two versions? The correct scale version with a simple molded canopy as shown in last post, and....the Cessna/Piper version? Just a suggestion, but I think the Pawnee canopy will draw heavy critisism from the true scale crowd. I don't think Austers wants that.

the Pawnee's design, we would not 100% duplicate that, just thought, do not screw so many holes on the canopy, that is the reason we would like to use Pawnee's idea,

ok, if you guys do not like it, we would not do it, I should send an email right now to stop it, do not make the mold.

sorryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy mate.

Alex don't take the small critisism of a one individual to heart. I think what you have to offer is exceptional and I love the colour scheems you have chosen. I have been speaking to a few of the guys at the aerotow meets and we have conluded that either the ag husky or the new Robin dr400 from austar models coupled with the new DL 100, petrol motor landing in Australia in a few days will be a pretty hard combo to beat and even more so if fitted with pipes. I will be placing an order for one @ The Hobby Man in Melbourne as soon as tax time has been.

cheers Rossco.

I agree, everything about this model is exceptional! That's why I was surprised to see a change in the canopy design. I can understand Austar's point of view about drilling less holes in the canopy. I say if you can make it look like an Aghusky canopy, then go for it! As for me, I'm a scale buff... so I would like for it to look scale.

I really don't mind the screws attaching the canopy...that's not the first thing a scale critic will notice when viewing the plane for the first time. However, he is more likely to say, " hey, isn't this canopy a little off scale? Kind of looks like a Pawnee. You paid how much for this?"
We're not picking on Austers, but this is a problem that's easy to correct and improves the scale outline....which is one of the reasons I'm primarily interested in this airplane.
As I'm looking at the Austers Cessna 182 TC I'm noticing it doesn't have the doors of a Citabria, or the landing gear of a Super Cub....If it did, how would this go over with Cessna 182 fans that love the scale outline and detail of this bird? Instead, the scale look is dead on...the same as we'd like to see in this new Ag Huskey model. Yes, we're a tough bunch to please, us scale buffs, but we're not just flying them and having fun...we're also looking at them when they're sitting still....and....we notice things.

AustersModels - How much trouble would it be to do a built up canopy with similar construction techniques of the pictured Pawnee canopy but with the shape and looks of the AgHusky? I believe idealy that is what everyone would prefer! Keep it as close to scale as possible. But it wouldn't hurt to use the construction technique from another model.

I would have asked for that....but I didn't want to appear to be asking for my cake and eat it, too. But since Red has brought it up...is this a possibility?? That would make this plane 100% perfect!

seems the canopy triggered some trouble. We would like to get clear something, for the canopy, it is only a construction technique, what Austars wants is to give modellers' more convinience, the canopy shape is still the same as the prototype. not the copy of Pawnee's. To be honest, we like the canopy on the prototype, it is very simple to produce, in order to bring you guys more convinience, we would like to introduce the new construction techniques (just two screws each side), similar techniques for the canopy we put on our 122 inch Yak and 122 inch Edge. I might get you guys confused, sorry for that!!!! The canopy still has the same shape I promise.
regarding the dealership in the US, we do not care how big that company is! as long as the company can provide good services to all modellers! in case no dealer for the US market, we directly sell.

Sounds good Alex! We don't mean to be a pain, I promise! We just want the scale realism. If you can design the canopy like the second prototype and make it look like an Aghusky's canopy, that would be AWESOME!

Outacontrol, I'm not liking the Pawn Husky idea. I would rather the canopy match the plane. To me, the first canopy is more scale. It would be nice if Austars could beef it up a bit, but not make it look like a different airplane's canopy. That's just my 2 cents.

And now, here's my 2 cents worth. I wholeheartedly agree with you about the canopy. I'd rather have the molded canopy shown below in the original prototype than the built up Piper Pawnee version. You've actually created a Hybrid of the two planes. The molded plastic version is not as nice as the framed up version...but neither is it true scale Cessna 188 Ag Husky. If we're gonna name this thing a model of a Cessna 188 Ag Husky...then by gum let's make it look like one.
This same issue happened during the development of the RC Guys Ag wagon...read the early posts on that thread, RC Guys corrected that problem...as best they could, anyway.

.......I guess I'll Throw another PENNY-in-the-POT ! ! ! ! ...........The built-up canopy is very nicely Detailed, But lets try to keep the Right Hat on the Right PLANE............., ( I hope a "wrench" didn't just get thrown into the Project ! ! ! ).. The strip on the tail will be nice , But I also like the CHECKER-BOARD pattern on the Prototype ! ! .................... ................I have Not yet PM'd anyone yet, But has the PRICE been mentioned anywhere for the RCU guys ? ? ? .............. I'd like to Know what it's going to take for ME to GET one ! ! ! ........

RC Guys price is on their website....but I think you meant the price of Austars Ag Husky. The price of $600 to $800 has been mentioned on this thread in earlier posts...go back and check, I think I'm right. Anyway, I think Austars got our message about the canopy. We may have misunderstood the canopy issue, but at least our concerns about wanting true scale outline has been brought to light.
ACP...where have you been hiding? Just when you'd think these threads were safe....suddenly....out of nowhere.....!!!!

'All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy'....or something like that....I'm sure you've heard that somewhere. I set aside an hour or two each night, okay...most nights....to do a little something on my current project, which currently happens to be a second 1/4 scale Piper Pawnee cropduster. Take time to smell the roses...yet another cliche...but it's true.

Hi, we came back last night from Coota, a very successful 3D event! I reckon Free style flying would be welcomed by the young generation, we do not compete, rather, we enjoy 3D. Glen demonstrated our 122 inch Edge and 122 inch Yak, photos attached. 120 inch Cessna-182TC was tested and approved at Coota, videos would be online tomorrow. The youngest pilot James showed his potential this time, this kid is only 7 years old. Very possible he will be the champion of tomorrow. More photos and videos would be avaliable this week.

This week, Glen will get the smoke ready for the Aghusky-188.

cheers
Alex
